Following the release of their newest album “I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are so Beautiful Yet so Unaware of It” I had the privilege of seeing The 1975 in concert at Kent State University, and I can’t stress enough how awesome it was to see them live. They’ve always been sort of underrated in the music industry. This was one of the most unique concerts I’ve ever been to, and I recommend for everyone to see them in concert. These are 5 reasons why you should go see The 1975 in concert.
1. Matty Healy
Matty has such a great stage presence and his dance moves are perfect. Also, his voice sounds like an angel.
2. The saxophone
Who knew listening to saxophone solos could actually sound cool?
3. The light show
The 1975 is known for their signature light show, and it does not disappoint in any way, shape, or form. Watching all of the different effects may have actually been the best part of the show.
4. The fact that Matty carries a wine glass around on stage
Obviously musicians have been to known to drink on stage, especially beer. But Matty likes to enjoy himself a glass of wine and a cigarette.
5. How they don't care about being mainstream
The 1975 don’t care about winning awards, like they expressed when I saw them at Kent State. They don’t care if they’re at the top of the charts; nor do they care about making the next greatest pop hit. They just care about their fans and making music that means something. It really shows in their stage presence. I mean, what other band would have an entire song just simply being played on the piano in the middle of the show?
