For those of you that don’t know, the North Country is the best place to be when fall hits. No matter where you are, you can always find something to do. From family time to just sitting back and taking in the view, the North Country is the place to be!
Apple Picking
Apple picking is a popular fall activity for kids and adults alike. The North Country has many different apple orchards to make everyone happy! From “u-pick” to just stopping in and buying a bag, there is something more satisfying about buying your apples from a local orchard rather than a store. Along with apple picking comes many great photo opportunities! Everyone can be a professional photographer when taking pictures of their loved ones picking an apple! There is something so profound in it, everyone wants that yearly apple picking picture! Apple picking can be great family time too! Spending a few hours in a field just having fun is a great way to spend time with family! So, apple picking in the many orchards of the north country has got to be on your list of things to do!
Pumpkin Patches
If you have ever driven through the North Country you have obviously noticed the copious amounts of farms. Through the few months of fall you will notice signs saying “PUMPKINS” everywhere you look! You never have to worry about buying one at the store-- our many farms have them readily available. The one thing you do have to worry about is getting to the patch early enough so you don’t miss out on the best pumpkin! Just like the apple orchards, pumpkin patches are another great photo opportunity, especially for the kids. Pictures of the little ones in a patch full of pumpkins make for the best fall scrapbooks.
Haunted Hayrides and Walks
As many of you already know, or have heard, there is not much to do in the North Country. When fall hits, that changes. Hayrides are a very popular thing. A hayride is when a tractor or truck or some kind of vehicle pulls a wagon full of people through a field with a lot of scary and creepy things in it. I know, it doesn’t sound fun-- but believe me, you’ve got to try it! Just like most fall activities in the North Country the hayrides are kid friendly, to a certain point. All of these hayrides turn scarier after dark; that is when the kid friendliness stops. Most of the time, with these hayrides, are haunted walks or mazes. Being the North Country, these walks are usually in a cornfield or in the middle of the woods. This a North Country must!
