If you are a fan of "Parks and Recreation," then you’re familiar with the much-loved couple Leslie Knope and Ben Wyatt. They’re adorable and perfect for each other. But they’re overdone. I want to be like Andy and April. They’re honest and funny, and they know how to be themselves--even together. Here’s why Andy and April are the true #RelationhipGoals in "Parks and Recreation"

1. They’re fun!

Bert Macklin and Janet Snakehole. Need I say more? They play pranks (mainly on Jerry…er, Gary? But who cares anyway). They hate the idea of adulting. (April even expresses to Andy she doesn’t want to become a boring adult). They’re immature. But they show us it’s important to keep our inner child within grasp. And it’s important to find someone you can have fun with because life is boring otherwise.

2. They make decisions based on gut and emotion.

Andy and April’s wedding is a perfect example of making life-long decisions based on gut feelings. They literally decided the night before! In one episode, April confides to Leslie that’s how she makes decisions—she doesn’t spend a lot of time thinking about them, she just goes with her gut. I think sometimes we could all benefit from that wisdom.

3. Their friends are their family.

Sure, April doesn’t express her love for Leslie or Ben (or anyone for that matter) in a typical way, but we know she loves them. And Andy is all about showing people he cares. But when it comes down to it, they will work together to help the rest of the Parks & Rec crew whenever they need it, like going all around town at the last minute to help Leslie and Ben pull off their last-minute wedding. They really are like a family.

4. They appreciate each other's quirks.

April likes things others may consider weird, but Andy loves her for those things. Andy is a bit of an idiot, but April loves that about him. When April temporarily moves to Washington D.C. with Ben, Andy sends his laundry “to remember him,” and instead of being annoyed or grossed out, she expresses she loves him (much to Ben’s confusion). They teach us the little things about a person make the person, and we have to love those quirks and accept them.

5. They're fully supportive of each other.

When Andy is struggling to find something other than Mouse Rat to devote time to and make a career out of, April encourages him to take a temporary job in London because he’s clearly passionate about music, even if it means not seeing him for months. Andy, then, fully supports April’s desire to pursue a different career, even if it means taking him away from Pawnee and the show he created. And she is upset by this, knowing the cost to Andy. They take it in turns to make sacrifices for the other person and their relationship. They show us that selfish has no place in a relationship, but that support is the most valuable thing we can give to our significant other.

No one is perfect, but there are people who are perfect for each other. I hope you find your Andy or April!

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
