If you're a girl who grow up in a Christian environment in the 2000s, you knew how empowering it was to see women sing boldly about their faith. Heck, even if you were a guy who grew up in the early 2000s in a Christian environment, you probably learned from these ladies what a godly woman looks like and developed crushes on them. Here are 5 top queens of Christian rock.
1. Lacey Sturm-Flyleaf
The lyrics to both her Flyleaf songs and her solo songs ranged from the attributes of God to the body of Christ to false prophets to what godly loved looks like. She's now an author and motivational speaker with a super inspiring testimony. Her first solo studio album, "Life Screams," came out in February 2016.
2. Tricia Brock-Superchick
Superchick was the perfect mix of girl power and God power. Their songs showed the true strength and beauty of a girl after God's own heart willing to follow her dreams. Even though Superchick has sadly broken up, you can still listen to Tricia's solo albums "The Road" and "Radiate."
3. Dawn Michele-Fireflight
Remember Fireflight with their sick rock anthems like "Unbreakable" and "For Those Who Wait?" Fireflight's latest album "Innova" came out in 2011.
4. Korey Cooper-Skillet
I always loved her soft, feminine vocals in contrast with her husband John's deep, rock growls. This contrast has been a staple in Skillet's music since she joined the band to help with the "Invincible" album which came out in 2000.
5. Sara Anthony-The Letter Black
This Christian rock queen is a less popular band than the others, but hopefully, your ears have been blessed by their music. She and her husband Mark Anthony have a similar style to John and Korey Cooper vocally, except in The Letter Black, Sara Anthony is the lead vocalist. I'd recommend their album "Hanging on by a Thread," but they're working on a Kickstarter campaign for their third studio album expected to be released in summer 2017.
