Are you struggling to find the "perfect" product, or struggling to find the "perfect" curl? Well, we all know that it takes a multitude of trials and tribulations to find that perfect routine to contain the beast that sits on top of our heads. For me personally, it has taken up until my first year of college to really figure out what works the absolute best for me. For so long I was never comfortable embracing the curl but honestly, you just have to say screw societal norms.

Not only that but it's really hard to spend so much money on different products and have them last maybe a week. It's also super hard to listen to all your friends with pin straight hair talk about hair care, and then not understand how some things just don't work for you. But for all my fellow curly haired women out there, here are a couple of products and tricks that have worked for me this past year.

1. Cantu Shea Butter Moisturizing Curl Activator Cream

This is honestly the absolute best product I've used. I'm more of a soft curls kind of girl now and this really does the trick. One bottle lasted me around a couple of months and let me tell you I have a LOT of hair to cover. Honestly, any type of Cantu product can do the job but this is the one that works best for me. I also use their moisturizing shampoo! If you don't use this then always look for something that's moisturizing!

2. Wrap Your hair at night OR buy a silk pillowcase

Just a little tip, a cotton pillow case makes your hair knotted, and gives way for more breakage. Keep your hair healthy and wrap it in a bonnet, a head wrap, or a silk scarf. Honestly, you can use anything as long as its silk and you can find any of these items anywhere.

3. Girl, Stop straightening it so much.

It took me so long to finally feel comfortable in my curls and to stop worrying about what everyone with straight hair was doing. I thought for awhile I was cursed by having this beast live on top of my head. But once I embraced the fuzz it's been a completely different world. If you are going to straighten your hair for different events (trust me I still straighten) make sure to spray your hair with a heat protectant formula.

4. Keune Repair Treatment

Deep Conditioner is your friend. I promise. A shout out to my hair stylist Jill for showing me this awesome conditioner. It makes your hair soft and a little goes a long way. A good conditioner truly is the magic touch.

5. Stop washing your hair every day.

Your curls have natural oils in them and those oils aren't necessarily a bad thing. I wash my hair once a week and before you get grossed out, try it, and see how it works. When you wash your hair it strips the hair of your natural oils. But that doesn't mean you should neglect that deep conditioner to keep it healthy!

At the end of the day, everyone has different hair and everyone has different tricks but these are just a few of my faves. Hair is a form of expression so do what you want and enjoy the multitude of looks! My advice? Embrace what you have and love what you were given. In the long run, do whatever is going to make you feel comfortable.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
