Hello Virginians and non-Virginians.
Virginia Beach is the most interesting place I've ever lived in (mostly because I've only lived in Virginia Beach and Norfolk). There are so many interesting aspects to VB: the constantly changing weather, tourist season, and the news. To those of you who haven't spent much time here yet, I hope you enjoy your time here in Virginia Beach.
5. Mount Trashmore
Mount Trashmore is known for its origin as a compacted form of a landfill. It is now a wonderful and beloved place to hang out and play with friends, family, and acquaintances.
Cost:Free (unless you want to rent a picnic shelter, prices here)
What's There: Picnic Shelters with a Charcoal Grill, Volleyball Courts, Horseshoe Pits, Kids Cove Playground, Skate Park, Outdoor Fitness Stations, Vending Machines, Public Restrooms
4. Town Center
Town Center can be found along Virginia Beach Blvd (almost 11 minutes from Virginia Wesleyan College, if no one knew already). There are so many places you could go and hang out at such as the many restaurants, stores, and the many events that are held there each year.
Cost:Free (unless you want to buy anything, obviously)
What's There: Town Center Craft Beer Festival, Yard House, California Pizza, Cheesecake Factory, Cold Stone Creamery, Jimmy John's, Just Cupcakes, Keagan's Irish Pub, P.F. Chang's
3. Farm Bureau Live
Also known as The Virginia Beach Ampitheater, our very own outdoor concert area. Beautiful especially during the late afternoon/early evening events. My sisters and I went to Warped Tour '14 and got to meet so many amazing artists.
Cost: Varied (from anywhere between $1 and $30+)
What's There: Warped Tour, Outcry Tour: Hillsong Worship, Weezer and Panic! at the Disco, Dixie Chicks
2. Lynnhaven Mall
Lynnhaven Mall, one of my personal favorite places to explore with money burning a hole in my pockets. The food court has some pretty good choices, but the best place to get food would be at Auntie Anne's. The AMC movie theater across from the food court is a wonderful place to watch movies with your family, friends, or significant other. Something missing from Lynnhaven though is that Merry-Go-Round that amused me and my sisters for so long, I miss it still but I think it has be adequately replaced by the many kid rides around the mall.
Cost: No entry fee, but requires money to pay for food, clothes, or other items
What's There: Pet-Go-Round, Macy's JCPenny's, Barnes&Nobles, Dave&Busters, Auntie Anne's, Sephora, Pink
1. The Oceanfront
The Oceanfront, the place with the most foot (and sometimes car) traffic by those that live in Virginia Beach and tourists alike. There's the actual beachfront and then there's the many different venues in which anyone can enjoy by themselves or with a friend.
Cost: Varied (no price to actually walk on the boardwalk, but it costs money to park and to buy various items from each of the stores in that area)
What's There:Holiday Lights, Shaka's Live, Flipper McCoy's
