Being away from Blacksburg in the summer is extremely difficult for me. I mean yeah, I miss my friends, but mostly I miss the food. Not only do we have the #1 campus dining in the country (HELL YEAH!), but we also have some kick-ass restaurants in town. And being the self-proclaimed food-guru I am, I decided to rank my favorite restaurants in Blacksburg. Sorry if your fav doesn't make the list. I don't really care because you should've made your own list. Here's mine:
1. Sake House.
Located by that new humongous Cinebowl movie theatre, we have my number one choice, Sake House. Let me tell y'all, Sake House has some BOMB sushi. Their specialty rolls are a must try. In my not-so-humble opinion, I highly recommend the firecracker roll. 10/10.
2. Mellow Mushroom.
Although a chain restaurant, this doesn't detract from the fact that Mellow Mushroom is freakin' good. Mellow Mushroom has awesome pizza, if thick, amazing, crazy pizza is what you're into. 10/10 recommend the Red Skin Potato Pie. Sounds weird, but is weirdly awesome.
3. Cabo Fish Taco.
Cabo Fish Taco is undoubtedly a Blacksburg town favorite. It's like El Rod's hotter cousin (Not hatin' on Rods, but it's true). My friend Kinzie recommends the lemon-grilled shrimp tacos, so do with that what you will.
4. Cook Out.
I'd be lying to myself if I didn't include this on the list. We all would. You really can't beat the bang for your buck that is the Cook Out tray, and lemme tell you, I have DREAMS about the milkshakes. Is it taboo to eat Cook Out sober in the day light? Because I often do.
5. Lefty's.
Lefty's holds the most well crafted on this list. Pretty fine dining for a college town, let me tell you. Price is pretty out of my range, but it's a fabulous place for when you finally get that boy to commit and take you on a date.
So here we have it, people of Blacksburg, my favorite places to eat in our beloved little city. Honorable mentions go to Greens, Gillies and Joe's Diner. If it's one thing VT can brag about, we have some pretty good food.
