Nicholas Sparks has been raising girls' expectations and making guys angry since 1995. With 19 books published, it can be hard to choose which are the best. But what is even harder than judging the books is judging the movies. In no particular order, here are five of the best Nicholas Sparks movie adaptations.
1. "The Longest Ride"
Does this need an explanation? A beautiful, bull-riding cowboy and a girl find love despite their differences and fears. And then pull in the love story from World War II. How could this not be on the list?
2. "The Notebook"
Writing someone every day for a year is something that sounds crazy, but crazy is what I would be if I didn't list this classic Nicholas Sparks book. Noah and Allie give us all the feels from start to finish, but it is what is left with us that matters the most. And what I mean is ice cream-filled stomachs and teary eyes, because our love will never be as good as Noah's and Allie's.
3. "The Last Song"
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth make us feel bad about our own relationships. How can one couple look so good and live in such a beautiful place? Besides the amazing acting and southern charm, the story of love and loss grabs us again, leaving us with teary eyes and a pain that may never be fixed. But "The Last Song" may be one of the best movies adapted from a Sparks novel.
4. "Dear John"
Did you just say that Channing Tatum is in uniform? Sign me up. This story of the love between a girl and a solider has all the feels, especially for us Army girlfriends. It brings us through the struggles, fears and passions that go along with dating an Army man. But we also add in the father who breaks our hearts every minute of this movie – I have it on repeat. Oh, did I mention the cliffhanger?
5. "A Walk to Remember"
There is nothing more beautiful than high school love. This movie teaches us tolerance, respect, love and loss. It is lesson intertwined with lesson, and it leaves us in shock. Also add in Mandy Moore singing – what is better than that?
