In This Article:

From the beginning of time, music has changed the hearts and lives of many. Quite often, people look to music as a way to channel their emotions. With the constant autonomy of Americans, we find ourselves always on the run. Music is used as a way to pass time. Students can be seen wearing earbuds while walking to class and while doing homework. Various search engines are viciously searched on repeat for new music to add to Spotify and Apple Music libraries. So today, I've decided to give you 5 new songs to bump to and a little bit behind the meaning of each of those songs.

1. Little by Octavian (contains expletives)

2. Summertime Magic by Childish Gambino

Unlike any of Childish Gambino's other songs, "Summertime Magic" gives a flare to his new fourth studio album. With an upbeat tone and positive lyrics, this song is written as a devotion to an unnamed woman. This is a great song to throw on at a barbecue and enjoy this new track with your friends.

3. Reboot (ft. Chance The Rapper and Joey Purp) by KAMI and Smoke Ono

Looking for another fire-spitting rap song? This is for you. These rappers alternate back and forth, giving different styles within the accelerative beat.

4. SICKO MODE by Travis Scott (contains expletives)

Isn't every song off of 'ASTROWORLD' great? This song definitely doesn't disappoint. With supporting vocals by Drake and Swae Lee, this song reveals how Travis has respect for the rap game and that mindset definitely puts him at the top of his competition. Scott talks about the luxury items that he has obtained over the years in the first verse. By the second verse, he goes on to explain how he doesn't like having the spotlight on him. As a personal tribute to others, "SICKO MODE" tries to be a song that people can relate to within their own lives.

5. 1997 DIANA by BROCKHAMPTON (contains expletives)

2017 was the year for Kevin Abstract and the rest of BROCKHAMPTON. The band actually dropped a trilogy of albums, which reveals their tedious and empowered work ethic. With this being a catchy song, BROCKHAMPTON has plans on making 5 more albums over the next year period. Be on the lookout for more music from this up and coming group.

I hope this abstract taste of music is an eye-opener. As many of you, I enjoy hearing about the music tastes of other people because I'm always expanding my song compilations.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
