1. "It's a Wonderful Life" (1946).
This black and white holiday classic includes an angel that helps a compassionate but despairingly frustrated businessman (George Bailey). He had always wanted to leave Bedford Falls to see the world, but certain circumstances and his own good heart have led him to stay. He sacrificed his education for his brother's, kept the family-run savings and loan afloat, protected the town from the avarice of the greedy banker Mr. Potter, and married his childhood sweetheart. As he prepares to jump from a bridge, his guardian angel intercedes; the angel gives George Bailey a glimpse of what life would be like if he never existed.
2. "A Christmas Story" (1983).
"You'll shoot your eye out", with this classic. A young boy, Ralphie Parker (Peter Billingsley), spends most of his time dodging a bully (Zack Ward) and dreaming of his ideal Christmas gift, a "Red Ryder air rifle." Ralphie is always arguing with his cranky dad (Darren McGavin) but comforted by his doting mother (Melinda Dillon). Ralphie struggles to make it to Christmas Day with his glasses and his hopes intact.
3. "Home Alone" (1990).
Eight-year-old Kevin McCallister (Culkin) has become the man of the house overnight! Accidentally left behind when his family rushes off on a Christmas vacation, Kevin gets busy decorating the house for the holidays, but he's not decking the halls with tinsel and holly. Two rowdy burglars are trying to break in. Kevin creates many booby traps to welcome them! This is a movie for the whole family!
4. "Elf" (2003).
"Santa I know him!" Buddy the Elf (Will Ferrell) was accidentally transported to the North Pole as a toddler and raised as an adult among Santa and the elves. Unable to shake the feeling that he doesn't fit in, the adult Buddy travels to New York, in full elf attire, in search of his real father. However, this is Walter Hobbs (James Caan), a cynical businessman. After a DNA test proves this, Walter reluctantly attempts to start a relationship with the childlike Buddy. The results that follow are progressively chaotic.
5. "The Polar Express" (2004).
Tom Hanks stars in the animated film, "Polar Express". It is an inspiring adventure based on the beloved children's book by Chris Van Allsburg.
