Top 5 Movies to Watch in 2016

1. Zootopia:

A PG Disney animated film that came out March 3 is our whopping number 1 movie to go see. It’s suitable for all ages, and not just catered to little kids. Zootopia is a city full of animals like no other. It’s bigger and better than the main character, Judy Hopps, could ever imagine. She is the first bunny to be a cop, and also the first smallest cop there ever was. She may not have the muscles, but she does have the heart.

2. Captain America: Civil War:

Even though Captain America: Civil War was rated No. 8 on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s still a must see. It’s a PG-13 action-adventure movie that came out May 5. It’s a superhero movie like no other. Every superhero you ever grew up with is in this movie from Captain America to Spiderman! There’s a fine line between Captain America’s side and Iron Man’s side the hero’s have to choose, but choose wisely because it’s going to get ugly. Find out what hero sides with who, and what happens.

3. 10 Cloverfield Lane:

10 Cloverfield Lane is for all you suspenseful sci-fi lovers out there directed by J.J Abrams. It’s No. 22 on Rotten Tomatoes list, and hit the theaters March 10. It’s not long of a movie ranging around 90 minutes, but will have you on the edge of your seat the entire ride. This young woman wakes up after a terrible accident where she finds herself locked in a cellar. Her rescuer, or so he claims, is trying to convince her there is an apocalyptic catastrophe going out in the outside world. What does she believe, and how is she going to find a way to escape?

4. Hush:

For all you Netflix lovers check out Hush. It’s a Netflix exclusive filled with an enormous amount of suspense you won’t know what to do with yourself. If you enjoy jumping out of your seat a bit, this is a movie for you. Esquire puts this movie at No. 11, and was released onto Netflix April 8. A deaf young author is exposed to a masked psycho with the intention to torment her, and in the end kill her. The terrors are maximized by its deft narration and visuals of storytelling.

5. Deadpool:

Deadpool has a dark twist on your typical “superhero” movie that came out in February 9. He’s not very super or hero, but what you call an “anti-hero”. Based on the Marvel comic, Wade Wilson has a dark sense of humor, and has a mindset to kill the man who destroyed his entire life before a rogue experiment went bad. It’s an average action-adventure movie, but rated R because of its dark humor. It’s not so typical in the sense that this hero actually gruesomely murders every man he attacks.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
