Everybody loves superheroes, especially today. While superheroes have always been a big thing it seems lately that they have gotten much more popular. Really, what's there not to love about them though? They kick butt on a daily basis and each one is unique in some way. Whether it's personality, disguise, super suit, looks, powers, etc. there's something to love about them for all of us. Here's a list of five of the most iconic!
5. Spider-Man.
Spider-Man is one of the most popular heroes of our time. In the 2000s decade alone, Spidey had three movies come out, and then in the 2010s decade, two more were added to his movie collection: that's two different series for one hero! The two series were "Spider-Man" and "The Amazing Spider-Man" and they each included two different takes on both Peter Parker and Spider-Man. Crazy right?
So what is it that makes the famous web-crawler so popular? How does one hero get two different movie series so close together? Well let's look at the hero as a whole.
Spider-Man is a human who was bitten by a radioactive spider, the radioactivity caused him to mutate and have spider-like abilities. Peter gained the ability to climb walls, swing from webs (even if that was kind of a gadget), improved flexibility and agility, keen senses, and more. All of these are pretty cool abilities and when you take them and become a hero, it's even cooler. Why wouldn't Spider-Man be an iconic hero?
4. Iron Man.
"The Avengers" have really helped slingshot a lot of heroes into superstardom lately. Tony Stark is no different. Tony is my favorite kind of hero, a gadget hero. He has no special superpowers, other than being super smart and super attractive, but I'm not sure that's really a superpower.
What stands out the most about Iron Man in my opinion is definitely his personality. He's sarcastic, smart, and overly confident in his abilities. He's everything a lot of people probably wish they could be. Not to mention his suit. He may not have any abilities but Tony Stark's suit is extremely awesome, it's filled with all kinds of powerful goodies.
With his kick-butt personality and amazing armored suit, how can Iron Man not be an iconic hero?
3. Captain America.
Another "Avengers" giant is probably Captain America. He is one of the greatest leaders ever and he has more patriotism than most people. It makes sense that Steve Rogers would have a high level of patriotism though because he's from the World War 2 age!
The fact that Cap is from so long ago makes him an impressive superhero because in the recent cinema universe, Cap had to readjust to things when he got trapped in an ice block and ended up in our present time. The ability to adjust to a completely different society is tough in itself. All the people you care about being so much older or not around. That takes a strong man and he was strong before he was even genetically enhanced!
What's iconic about Cap isn't his abilities in my opinion, but his heart and determination to do the right thing. Captain America deserves to be the iconic hero he is today. Count how many Cap shirts or shields you see next time you're out, there's tons!
2. Superman.
The Man of Steel! Superman is one of the oldest heroes to date. I bet about 80 percent of people you know have a Superman-something lying around. Look for the iconic symbol. Why is he so iconic though? What is that we like about Superman? In my opinion, I think he's exactly what we think of when we imagine a superhero. For Cap, his sensitive goodie-good personality was iconic but for Superman, I think it's his abilities.
Superman is called the Man of Steel for a reason,he's super strong and nothing human can pierce his flesh. He faster than a bullet, has laser eyes and x-ray vision and he can fly! That's only a handful of his abilities. Honestly, who doesn't want to be Superman?
1. Batman.
This last hero goes by many different names. The Dark Knight, The Caped Crusader, and The World's Greatest Detective are just a few of the many nicknames this hero has. Batman is, in my opinion, the most iconic superhero. I'm not just saying that because he's my favorite, I'm saying that because everywhere you look someone's in a Batman shirt. Batman's everywhere and after the success of "The Dark Knight" trilogy it only intensified.
What is it that everyone likes about Batman? Part of it is probably the fact that he's usually a hero, but sometimes he comes off as a villain because he hides in the shadows. He's also a ninja and has some pretty fantastic martial arts skills. I think about 90 percent of us think martial arts are pretty incredible. Not to mention, Bruce Wayne has some of the coolest gadgets around. I'd love to do the things he can do!
These are the five heroes that seem the most iconic to me. What about you guys? Who do you think is the most iconic?
