On October 28, 2016, Leonardo DiCaprio won his first ever Oscar for "The Revenant." This was his 6 time being nominated for the best actor award. DiCaprio is perhaps one of the finest actors to have ever graced the silver screen. Here are some movies that showcase the sheer brilliance of DiCaprio as an actor.
1. "Titanic"
1997 marked the rise of Leonardo DiCaprio as a superstar in Hollywood. His sizzling onscreen chemistry with Kate Winslet in "Titanic" coupled along with a really emotional ending are what make this movie a must watch for everyone.
2. "The Departed"
Boasting an incredible cast of Oscar winner Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Wahlberg, "The Departed" is one of the most well made crime stories in Hollywood. DiCaprio plays the role of an undercover cop who infiltrates Nicholson's gang and on the other side you have Damon who is an undercover in the police force for the mob. DiCaprio was at his finest in the movie and was also nominated for an Oscar, but sadly did not secure the win.
3. "Inception"
"Inception" is perhaps one of the most confusing movies ever made. Directed by Christopher Nolan, "Inception" again showcases the great talent possessed by Leonardo DiCaprio with his ability to harness different characters.
4. "Catch Me If You Can"
DiCaprio plays the role of a conman in which he becomes a doctor, a pilot and a lawyer, and Tom Hanks' character is out to get him. Easily DiCaprio's best movie yet because of his sheer brilliance as an actor and also because of the funny cat and mouse chase he has going on with Hanks.
5. "The Revenant"
"The Revenant" was the movie that finally helped DiCaprio bag his Oscar and make fan boys like me cry tears of joy. "The Revenant" is an excellent movie and is inspired by true events in which an explorer is left to die by his companions and how he takes revenge on Tom Hardy's character who had killed his on-screen son. Coupled with an excellent performance by DiCaprio and amazing cinematography, "The Revenant" is one of his finest movies to date.
