1) Freshman year does matter.
No matter what people say, if you mess up in high school, it will most definitely come back to bite you when it comes to paying attention to your gap and applying to colleges. Every year counts, stay focused.
2) Making friends and losing friends is all a part of the experience.
I constantly found that in high school that friends came and went quicker than the seasons change. But that is okay! You learn something new from every friendship so embrace all the people that come into your life.
3) Having a boyfriend should not be a priority.
I had a boyfriend throughout high school and while it was great, I found that once we split up I was a little lost. High school is a time to get to know yourself and understand all the changes you are going through, if you spend the entire time getting to know another person you'll forget to take time to get to know who you are.
4) You have an attitude problem, accept it.
Most of high school I argued with my mom and I absolutely hated admitting I was wrong. I don't know if it is the hormone thing or not but for some reason we think we know everything and to be honest life is so much easier if you lose the 'tude.
5) Popularity isn't important.
You may think having tons of people know you, being invited everywhere, and being able to say hi to everyone down the hall is a big deal but it's far from it. If you have a group that makes you happy whether it's your teammates or some others kids you hang out with, then consider yourself lucky. Trying to fit into a popular group doesn't show who you are. But, genuinely being a good person and people knowing you for that honest reputation is the kind of popularity, if any, someone should want.
