I didn’t originally start off as someone who constantly played games on my phone. I had a keyboard phone up until the summer before I started college so I didn’t really have the means to play the games everyone obsessed over (I’m talking about Temple Run and Flappy Bird, which I really don’t regret missing). However, everything changed when I got a smart phone and my phone actually had the ability to store apps. Since then I have played countless games on my phone, and I think that they are worth a try if you’re looking for a way to relax after a stressful day or just take a time out from doing an assignment. So, without further ado, here is my top 5 list of games for phones.
1. One More Brick
Since I got this game I have not stopped playing and I have my roommate to thank for that. Seriously, I will be on my phone and before I know it I’ll be playing that game. I play it when I hang out with my friends, I play it while eating, and I sometimes play it during my psychology class (which actually gives me something to do instead of fidget so I count it as a win). The good thing about this though is that it isn’t distracting. Basically, the object of the game is to shoot balls off and eliminate squares (which have a certain number of times they need to be hit before they disappear) before they hit the bottom. It’s incredibly mindless, relaxing, and aesthetically satisfying to watch and listen to the balls follow a line and bounce off squares. There are different power ups that make the game exciting so if you’re looking for a way to destress and the coloring books aren’t doing the job, this game is worth a try.
2. 1010!
This game was one that my sisters showed to me. It’s basically like Tetris but revamped. This is another game that I got quickly obsessed with and would also use as a way to relax and destress. The object of the game is to fill the row of ten and once that is done, the row disappears. However, if you fill up the board until there is no more room left for new pieces, you lose. I like this game because it’s like Tetris, but without the stress of falling pieces and the necessity to make quick decisions. You can go at your own pace and pick up where you left off anytime.
3. Block! Hexa Puzzle
This is a game that my friend introduced me to. The object of the game is to find the ways in which all the pieces fit together in a certain area. It’s not timed and there is no penalty for putting the pieces in the wrong spots. There are also varying levels of difficulty that make the game something to enjoy or present a real challenge. I actually just downloaded the game yesterday and I have already completed 4 puzzle packs. It’s addicting and definitely keeps your attention no matter what level you play at.
4. Flow Free
This was the game that originally got me hooked on any kind of game. Again, my sisters had been playing it so I downloaded it to see what’s up and within a day I had already worked through all the puzzle packs. The object of the game is to connect two of the same colored dots together without crossing over the lines connecting other dots (there is a version with “bridges that allows you to cross over certain lines at certain points, but I haven’t played that yet). I downloaded the game on both my computer and my laptop and I love it. Just like One More Brick, if you turn the sound on, the dots make water sounds that are very satisfying.
5. Flippy Bottle
If you’re one of those people that secretly enjoy flipping half empty water bottles but don’t want to be publicly ridiculed for it, this game is for you. The same friend that showed me the hexagon game showed me this one and as someone who also loves to flip real water bottles (judge me), this game was one I had to try. The object is obviously to flip water bottles, BUT the kicker is that you need to flip them onto different objects such as shelves and tables. I had this game on my phone for a while but had to delete it to make room for more games. When I did have it though, it was entertaining and a way for me to strategize how to actually throw my real water bottles (kidding).
