Playing video games is an excellent way to entertain yourself during dull moments throughout the day. It can be as easy as picking up your phone, or as immersive as grabbing your controller to your gaming console. No matter the device, video games offer many reasons to spend time on them. For example, they can range from pure story-driven gameplay to mindless point and click fun. I like to explain them as movies that the user can alter/influence. Beside the wide range of genres between video games, one thing is for sure; they are all very fun to play.

I have been playing video games since 2005. I remember receiving my first gaming console, the Playstation, for my 7th birthday. Since that day, the advancement of technology and motivation to some days devote hours grew stronger. After about 11 years of experience, I can easily make a list of recommended games, both on console and handheld device. Well, here it is:

5) Call of Duty: Black Ops (Playstation 3)

Over the years, Call of Duty grew to become the most well-known video game whenever the topic was brought up. With several amazing games within the Call of Duty franchise (which releases a new edition every year), its no surprise its become one of the top video game series of all time. I would say, however, Black Ops is my favorite Call of Duty game. Because of the heavily focused multiplayer component, I spent a lot of time playing with my friends who shared the same passion for the game as I did. I miss those Saturdays where I would spend hours having fun with my best friend, after finishing my homework for the weekend of course.

In addition to the online multiplayer, my friends and I fell in love with the Zombies game mode, a round-based made where a horde of zombies chase you until it becomes too much to handle. Yet another aspect of endless fun within one little disc.

4) Clash Royale (IOS, android device)

With the immense success of Clash of Clans, Supercell (the developer) took it one step further and developed Clash Royale. Sticking with the same theme and story (as well as the same characters), Supercell turned Clash of Clans into a real-time battle against an opponent. I spent way too much time on this app. The intense battles, knowing another person in the world is battling you, as well as the complexity and strategy of the game makes it impossible to put down. The game has a solid progression system, where you level up and earn chests, where you can unlock bigger and stronger characters to deploy in battle. The better cards you have, the more you win, the more you level up, the more fun you have.

In addition, just the convenience of it being on your phone or tablet makes the game that much more addicting; knowing that it's easily accessible any time your phone/ tablet that is always around you adds to the motivation.

3)Crash Bandicoot (Playstation 1)

When I think of this game, I instantly think back to my childhood. This is one of the first games I've played, therefore leaving a vivid memory when thinking about old school games. I love the fixed level gameplay, avoiding booby traps and knocking enemies off the screen with a goofy spin. It is a gameplay game, meaning the reason you want to play it is for the gameplay itself. The controls are simple enough so that anyone could pick up and play, and lose track of time as you help Crash through challenging labyrinths

2) Fifa (Playstation 4)

If you have friend over, and want to sit back and compete against each other in a video game, Fifa is the game for you. I've played hundreds of matches and scored countless goals, each providing a jolt of excitement every time. By far, its my favorite sports game of all time. The sense of competition drives you to score, and when you score, there is no better feeling while you laugh and cheering in your opponent's face. At college, my friends and I often play Fifa during down time. Tournaments are a great time, but winning it all is even better. No matter how much I try, Fifa will never get boring/stale, therefore it will never leave my top 5 list of best video games.

1) The Last of Us (Playstation 3)

. Here it is, the biggest of them all, The Last of Us. This game was released in 2013, and to this day, is my favorite game of all time. I cannot explain the level of storytelling that occurs in this video game. I, as well as most of players, gained a strong emotional connection with the characters, Joel and Ellie. When they cried, I cried. When they were happy, I was happy. NaughtyDog, the developer of the game, creates an exemplar of profound immersion. I remember the opening scene clearly after 3 years, and how the story and progression of the main character evolve through time. It is truly a movie with user influence. There's not much to say other than its an amazing game worth perfect ratings from several review sources. Seriously, check it out. I promise it will be worth it.

There you have it, my list of top 5 favorite games. After many years, I grew a passion for them, and continue to find them an exciting solution for when I'm bored. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to play some video games.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.
