With Thanksgiving approaching in a couple of days, not only is everyone looking forward to spending time with their family but they have their favorite dishes in mind that they are looking forward to devouring. Well, so am I. So, here are my top 5 favorite Thanksgiving dishes in no specific order:
1. Pumpkin Pie
Okay, I know this is a dessert but it’s still considered a dish right? It is my absolute favorite dish and I look forward to it the most. I can eat it as dessert, a snack, and even for breakfast on the following days after Thanksgiving since there will most likely be leftovers. Costco has the best pumpkin pie, and they’re huge! It will last for days and it's good if you're planning to have a lot of guests over.
2. Mac and cheese
Mac and cheese seems like a pretty basic dish, but not on Thanksgiving. We give it some extra love on this special day. It is a homemade 5 cheese dish baked with breadcrumbs on the top, yum. I wish we made this kind of mac and cheese all throughout the year.
3. Scalloped potatoes
I am not a big fan of regular mashed potatoes or baked potatoes, so this is a real treat for me. They are regular potatoes cut into small circular pieces and baked with cheese on top. As you can tell, I really enjoy cheese. Cheese can make the most basic dish into a desirable one.
4. Turkey
Even though the turkey is the main dish of the evening, it is not the only dish I am excited to eat, but it definitely makes it to the list. It’s the best when drenched in warm gravy. It gives it that little extra flavor you're missing.
And last but not least,
5. Pumpkin bread
This is the second pumpkin flavored dish I have on the list, but that is because I love pumpkin flavored food, drinks, etc. I usually make pumpkin bread with a brown sugar crumb topping from scratch on Thanksgiving. In my next article I will provide the ingredients I use to make it.
