Everyone has a favorite song or many favorites. The song you blare from your speakers when you're happy, the one you play softly when you're upset, the one that makes you want to get up and dance, or the one with lyrics so deep it makes you want to get a tattoo. Music is a universal language. Almost everyone listens to it. I listen to music primarily when I study and write. Since I've been doing a lot of both recently I thought I'd write up a list of my top five favorite songs.
1. Spotless Mind- Jhene Aiko
Jhene Aiko is one of my all-time favorite artists. I could easily make a list of my top songs using only her music. I discovered this song back in about 2014. I was browsing on Youtube and listening to music when this woman was pictured in the thumbnail against a brightly colored background. I decided to give the song a try. After I watched the video the first time I was hooked. I love the concept of the video and the song in general. I think I may even get a tattoo of the lyrics, "I'm a Wanderer" and "Shame on me for changing. Shame on you for staying the same." To this day this is my favorite song and has been since I found it years ago. This is why it's number one in the countdown.

2. Wait- August Alsina
This is a really slow song that I like to vibe to. It's about breaking up with someone because you're on different paths in life, but having hope you'll meet again someday. There was a time not too long ago that I'd felt this way. It was nice to hear the things I was feeling in a song and knowing I wasn't the only one feeling them. I still listen to it often, even though I don't feel that way anymore, and that's why this song makes it into the number two spot.
3. What's Best For You- Trey Songz
I love, love love this song. Something about the beat and the lyrics combined with Trey Songz's voice is magical. It's all about wishing the best for someone, even if the best isn't you. No matter how much it hurts you'd rather see the person you care about to be happy with someone else than be miserable with you. The video is also very powerful I highly recommend it! Smartphones the song is amazing as well I recommend the video even though it didn't quite make it into this countdown.

4. Sorry Not Sorry- Demi Lovato
When I hear this song, I have this urge to get up and dance while screaming the lyrics at the top of my lungs. I watch coreography videos on Youtube and the dance to this song is one of my favorites as well. The beat is infectious and I relate to the lyrics. I want to go out and do my best while looking my best and make sure all the people I've lost touch with on my journey know that I'm doing just fine and I'm not sorry for it.

5. 4 Minutes- Avant
This song was released in 2006 I was about seven or eight. This one made the countdown because I have vivid memories of listening to this with my dad. I remember a trip we took once and a bunch of family members were packed into a minivan. I was sitting next to my dad and he put on this song and I was singing every word with him. He felt so proud because I enjoyed the same type of music he did, and to this day I still think of this as a way we initially bonded so I will forever love this song. He also sang it really high pitched when he was getting his first and only tattoo and that was really funny.
I hope you all enjoyed and if you like you can listen to these songs and maybe know me a little better by hearing them. I definately reccommend this music and I hope you all enjoy it.
