Top 5 Favorite Holidays

It always seems like there's another new holiday to prepare for. With all of these holidays rapidly approaching I thought I'd share a few of my favortes. Here are my top 5 favorite holidays!

#5 Easter

With all the bright colors and happy people how can you not like Easter? It's a time when spring is in the air and a time for new things. There's bright flowers growing everywhere, animals coming out of hibernation, and even a big Easter bunny to greet you. You can't go wrong with Easter!

#4 St. Patrick's Day

As a Irish las myself I love St. Patrick's day! The color green everywhere you look and a day to celebrate my family heritage. I have had the privilege of going to Ireland myself this past summer and that trip only strengthened my love of all things Irish. I can't wait for St. Patrick's day this year.

#3 New Year's Eve

This day, for whatever reason, becomes a day where things from the past don't really matter. Not that all your troubles simply go away, but New Year's forces you to have a new perspective about your life. You can look back at all of the good things you've done and what you want to fix about yourself. Use this time for self reflection and make a healthy new years resolution. Don't forget the New Year's Pretzel!

#2 Halloween

Halloween is almost tied for my favorite holiday. A time when you can eat all the candy you want, wear an outfit you would usually NEVER wear out in public, decorate pumpkins and drink apple cider can't be bad. I love everything about this holiday, including the haunted houses and hay rides. I could go on forever about all of the wonderful things you can do around this time but i'll leave it at this... candy corn.

(If you don't like candy corn then I'm sorry to tell you that you are wrong)

#1 Christmas

A time where magic truly comes alive. People are more generous, happier, and giving is at an all time high during this season. The best part about Christmas is, (if you're lucky), looking outside your bedroom window and seeing a beautiful, pure, and white wonderland, like God himself sprinkled a soft layer of powered sugar on a perfectly baked cake. Christmas is a time when dreams come true and happiness is all around you.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
