Going to sleep late and spending time on social media instead of studying for a big test can be a pain in the neck. As a young college student, we often find ourselves getting distracted causing us to fall behind in school. Here are some of my study tips that should be able to help any college student.
1. Go To Sleep Earlier, Especially If You have A Morning Class.
This one is a little tough, but it is possible. Put your phone on airplane mode and set your alarm clock for the following morning. This will allow you to be less tempted to check social media or play games on your phone. Also, if you live with loud family members or friends, then make sure you tell them to "shut up!"
2. Create A Schedule For The Week.
Make a schedule for Sunday-Saturday. Make sure to include fun activities in that schedule so that you aren't completely overwhelmed with just school or work. For example Monday and Wednesday could be the days where you fully devote yourself into doing homework and Tuesday and Thursdays are days you could relax but still find time for homework.
3. Listening to Classical Music While You do Homework or Study.
This one may seem a bit odd, but if there are no words in music then you're most likely to concentrate much better than listening to your favorite song in which you know every single lyric. If you don't dig classical music, movie soundtracks are an alternative. "Lord of the Rings" or the "Harry Potter" series have awesome soundtracks that might also boost your level of concentration.
4. Take Vitamins and Drink Water.
This is the easiest way to restore energy throughout the day. As well as working out at home, outside or in the gym. Vitamins allow you to stay focused and feel refreshed throughout the day. Water is always good no matter what. If you live in a dry area, the heat can drain you mentally and physically, so carry a water bottle with you wherever you go!
5. Chew Gum While Studying.
It is said that if you chew a certain flavor a gum, then chew thats same flavor while taking a test; you are likely to pass the test. It's just a rumor, but who knows it seems pretty logical. On a series note, flash cards and practice quizzes are cool too.
