Because people love conspiracy theories.

Very recently, I have come across more and more videos and article about conspiracy theories. Some of them are very believable while others are just very out there. Some get you thinking while others make perfect sense. I have been guilty of watching conspiracy videos instead of doing my homework because they are so much more interesting than what I am learning in my classes sometimes. Here are my top five favorite conspiracy theories I have come across during my Internet surfing.

1. Mandala Effect

Now, some would not consider this a conspiracy theory, but here is the premise. Basically, it is when a group of people recall something being different than what it actually is. I know that is a confusing definition, so here are examples.:The name itself comes from Nelson Mandala, who everyone thought died in jail in the 90's, but just recently died within the last few years. Many people remember him dying in the 90's. There are even some books that say he died in the 90's. Another popular one is the Berenstain Bears vs. Berenstein Bears argument. A lot of people remember it being Berenstein Bears, but it is Berestain Bears. There is a generation of people who remember it being Berenstein Bears, and others remember it being what it is today. It is interesting to see there are so many people who remember something one way. Every day, there are several Mandala Effects that are brought to light.

2. Parallel Universe and Time Travel

Going along with the Mandala Effect, many people believe that parallel universes exist, and there may be some out there that have time traveling, which is what causes a Mandala Effect. Parallel universes are not new to the conspiracy theory list, but it interesting to see the different theories surrounding parallel universes and the link with time travel. Time travel has been something that people have talked about for a while now, and it interesting to think about. Are there people in the future time traveling to the past, or are people from parallel universes time traveling? Does this create small details that are misplaces? Is this why there is a Mandala Effect? It is interesting to think about.

3. Illuminati and The New World Order

We are all familiar with the Illuminati. Really famous celebrities, such as Beyoncé, Kanye West, and Taylor Swift, are all associated with being in the Illuminati. Back in 2009 when Taylor Swift was interrupted by Kanye West when she was accepting her award, there is a theory saying that it was Swift's initiation into the Illuminati. There are many different conspiracies surrounding this. The Illuminati is a super-secret society who controls the world and the governments. Whether or not it exists, it is still crazy to think that there might be a single group of people who control the world. There are several hand gestures that people who are believed to be in the Illuminati throw up. Throw up what you know, I suppose.

4. Chemtrails

Have you ever looked up in the sky and seen the white lines that look like they are from planes? A lot of people used to think nothing of it until very recently. More and more people are wondering if planes are actually the reason behind the chemtrails. People are asking why there are so many of them in the sky at once and why they cross. There was a question brought up as to whether or not these are actually from planes of if they are from the government spraying chemicals to the citizens, trying to control the population by "weeding out" the ones who do not have a good immune system. Why are there days when there are none in the sky and other days when there are several in the sky? The world may never know.

5. Katy Perry is JonBenet Ramsey

So this one is on this list because recently, it came out that JonBenet's family was behind her murder. For those who do not know anything about JonBenet, she was a 6-year-old beauty queen who was found murdered in her family's basement the day after Christmas in 1996. A lot of people thought that her mother was behind it because she could have been jealous of how successful and popular JonBenet was. Her mother was also a beauty queen when she was younger, so many people thought she was living vicariously through JonBenet. How is JonBenet Ramsey even Katy Perry? There was a YouTuber who came out with a video explaining all the reasons he believes that JonBenet actually became Katy. For one, he said that Katy's parents look very similar to JonBenet's parents. It is also pointed out how eerily similar Katy and JonBenet are to one another in looks.

These are all conspiracy theories, not fact. I thought that they were all interesting to go into and talk about because conspiracy theories are becoming more popular by the day.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
