Around this time of year, people tend to flip on their television and see plenty of Christmas movies. This list will be the Top 5 must watch Christmas movies this holiday season:
5. The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
This Halloween inspired Christmas movie is certainly an outlier compared to traditional Christmas movies, but certainly, has been known to bring joy to many. On the movie critic website Rotten Tomatoes, "The Nightmare Before Christmas" received the stellar rating of 94%. If you want to watch a classic Christmas movie but don't want the traditional type of movie, this is the movie for you.
4. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964)
On the opposite side of the spectrum from the first movie on the last, "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" is a classic Christmas movie that all of us have seen at one time or another. This movie tells the tale of Rudolph, a reindeer not accepted by the rest for the color of his nose. This wonderful movie scored a 92% on the Rotten Tomatoes scale.
3. Home Alone (1990)
"Home Alone" is a movie that nearly every person in the United States has seen. It is a comedy about a young boy in a big family who has been left behind. Robbers attempt to invade his house, but he shoots back with many enjoyable jokes and pranks. Unfortunately, Rotten Tomatoes seems to hate this movie, giving it a 55% .
2. Elf (2003)
"Elf" is one of the most comedic movies of all time and is certainly near the top of the list for Christmas movies. Buddy the Elf ventures from the North Pole to New York City to meet his real father. The movie is filled with twists and hilarious turns at every corner. Rotten Tomatoes awards this movie an 84%, which is a very low mark for such a fantastic movie.
1. A Christmas Story (1983)
"A Christmas Story" is most certainly my favorite Christmas movie of all time and should certainly be everyone's favorite. This movie plays back to back the entirety of Christmas Day in my household. Any pictures ever taken will show this movie in the background and for good reason. If you are ever bored it could never hurt to throw this movie on. Unjustly, the movie scores an 89% on Rotten Tomatoes, despite the 100% it has truly earned.
