The Top 5 Christmas Movies

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! It’s finally time

to break out the ugly Christmas sweaters, the hideous Christmas socks, and all the shinny tinsel that you can find. By the time you finish celebrating here on campus and head home after finals, there will be some much-needed relaxation on your horizon. So make some hot chocolate, grab a Christmas cookie or five and get cozy on the couch.

SO without further adieu, the ultimate Christmas movies to enjoy during your 2-week post finals hibernation.

"How The Grinch Stole Christmas"
This is a classic. As far as animated Christmas movies go, this is the only movie worth your time. It brings back all the nostalgia of watching cartoons on Saturday mornings while also putting you in the Christmas spirit. This is also incredibly appropriate to watch with your little cousins who roll in over Christmas break.

"Elf"
“You smell like beef and cheese, you don’t smell like Santa Claus!” The classic one-liners in this movie make it a necessity to work into your movie night. Will Ferrell acting like a child also helps elevate this movie to a Christmas classic. You can’t not watch this movie and not help believing in Santa again. After all, if Santa isn’t real, where did Buddy the Elf come from?

"National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation"
This isn’t a movie to watch with small children present. That being said, grab all the members of your family with a good sense of humor and pile in to watch an '80s classic. Chevy Chase’s crazy antics will remind you to appreciate how normal your family is and to NEVER let your crazy cousin Eddie kidnap your boss, not matter how small your Christmas bonus is.

"Dr. Suess’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas"
Honestly, this is my favorite Christmas movie of all time. It has a hilarious lead, music numbers that will get stuck in your head forever and Christmas cheer out the yin yang. Jim Carey dressed up as the Grinch will make you laugh till you cry and then make you cry as he relives his past. Just like "Elf," this movie has some great one liners to yell at people as they walk in your door to begin the Christmas festivities.

"Love Actually"
Although it’s quite quirky (it is British after all) and not your classic Christmas movie, it has to be included on this list. It combines the hopeful Christmas spirit of all the other movies with some high quality dance moves courtesy of Hugh Grant. Not only will you get some great laughs out of this movie, you will get up from your cocoa haze believing in love and humanity again. Also, for all the Harry Potter fans out there, Snape makes a cameo in this movie, which makes it 150 times better.

So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
