My Top 5 Favorite Cartoons

Throughout my entire life, I have never stopped watching cartoons. However, the cartoons I've watched overtime have changed. I started with shows/movies like, 'Winnie the Pooh,' but quickly I discovered Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon. Shows like 'Spongebob,' 'Teen Titans' and 'Ed, Edd and Eddy' were shows I grew up loving. Over the years, my tastes have changed, even though I still admire and like many '90s cartoons. Here are a list of my top 5 favorite cartoons (in no particular order):

1. 'Futurama'

This show makes me chuckle, bust a gut and even cry. All the characters are absolutely amazing and relatable. Almost every punchline is delivered perfectly too! There is no denying that Matt Groening is a genius when it comes to funny cartoons made for adults. Nearly every episode of 'Futurama' is so memorable because the crew gets themselves in hilarious and wacky situations. However, there are episodes where I cry, such as the episode, 'Jurassic Bark'. This was one of the standout classics!

2. 'Bob's Burgers'

The Belchers are one of my favorite cartoon families. Each family member has their own unique personality and quirky traits. Louise is probably one of my favorite characters because of her crazy schemes and hilarious commentary. Even the side characters are great, such as Teddy, the loveable, slow-witted family friend. Another reason I love this show is because they send a great message each season by encouraging the idea of being different!

3. 'Archer'

'Archer' is another hilarious cartoon with voice actor, H. Jon Benjamin, as the main character. His delivery for both characters, Archer and Bob, are stupendous! One way I would describe 'Archer' is as a James Bond parody. It shows the journey of a handsome super-spy through his strange and dangerous missions around the globe. He usually gets his crew/agency into trouble, but almost always gets them out of it too. This cast of characters are unique and inappropriately hilarious!

4. 'Rick and Morty'

Rick has reunited with his family after 20 years of not being in the picture. He stays in the garage, where he has transformed it into a lab. Morty, his grandson, accompanies Rick on crazy adventures to other galaxies and dimensions. 'Rick and Morty' cracks me up during every episode. There are cool and funny songs, amazing characters and concepts. Some episodes are serious, while most are hilarious and wacky. This is a fantastic show to check out!

5. 'Bojack Horseman'

'Bojack Horseman' is an original Netflix series, starring Will Arnett, as Bojack, a miserable humanoid horse. The greatness of 'BoJack Horseman' may be that it tells of comedy and despair. Bojack tries making a comeback from his '90s sitcom, 'Horsing Around'. Throughout his journey, he always self-loathes and drinks his way back to stardom. However, it costs Bojack his friends and his sanity. It's a fantastic show with a great premise and, the occasional, serious topic.

Right now, all these shows are on Netflix! I highly recommend them, and encourage you to check them out.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
