With college less than a week away, there are a lot of things to think about. Roommates, classes, text books, sports, it's all very exciting. However I can't help but think of my home town as well. This is where I've lived my entire life, and honestly I can't imagine living anywhere else. Once I move in to college though, I'll live in a new town with new people and I know I'll miss Bridgewater. Here are some of the things I'll miss the most about living in Bridgewater:
1. Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School.
Most people say they can't wait leave high school and won't miss any of it, and I can't say I disagree completely. I'm so excited for college and I definitely will not miss the school work and (some of) the people, but there are things that just won't be the same in college.
I'll miss having all my text books provided for me (something I think we all take for granted) and the teachers who were always there to help. I'll miss hearing updates about the robotics team and the anticipation leading up to Raynwater's spring musical. I could go on, but my point is that high school wasn't all bad and I'll miss BR.
2. Living 10 minutes or less from my friends.
Bridgewater may be relatively big for a town, but it certainly isn't huge. Luckily, that means my friends all live about 10 minutes or less from me. Once all go our separate ways for college though, those 10 minutes become an hour or more. And with everyone's schedules being different, the people I used to see every day might only be able to meet up on holiday breaks.
3. Hanson Farm/Sugar Hill Dairy.
Known to most as simply Hanson's, the farm has a great variety of products, including pumpkins in the fall and beautiful Christmas trees in the winter. Also, Hanson's ice cream is second to none, so it will be impossible to find a place just as good near my college.
4. The Music Alley.
Even though it's brand new, Bridgewater's Music Alley has already become a favorite spot. Located in the center of town between to buildings, the Music Alley is a place for musicians to perform and students can receive community service by helping set up and break down after performances. People of all ages can perform there, from students to professionals, and even if you're not a musician, watching others perform is night well spent!
5. Prisco's Market.
Their motto is, "There is something for everyone!" and that is absolutely true! The market has all sorts of gifts and bakery items and there is a deli section as well as a garden center. Children love playing mini golf there and using the batting cages, then having ice cream from Prisco's Country Creamery. Prisco's is also very involved in the community, from hosting fundraisers (it's the perfect place for a car wash) to catering events (I had my drama club cast party there). Prisco's is such a unique place and I know I won't find anything like it!
