College is a lot of fun. You get to live with all your friends, people cook (what is possibly) food for you, and you finally get that freedom you just wished for every day for eighteen years. This all being said, there are absolutely some things that home provides that college just can't live up to:
1. Your own room.
Don't get me wrong- I love my roommate and my dorm room. But, there are a lot of nights where I wish I was the only person in the room. And evenings when I wish I could watch my own show, in my own room. I don't have a personal television, so it's my laptop or the common room television. Fun fact: people will judge you hardcore if you stream Dragon Tales on the community television when you're stressed.
2. Food.
Yeah, the dining hall is always buffet style and that's nice, but sometimes I just really want a plate of spaghetti with real sauce and a meatball whose origin I know.
3. Pets.
If you had to leave behind a pet at home, you feel me. Yes, friends and a random houseplant are nice, but there's something magical about walking in the door and getting attacked by multiple balls of fur on legs. There just is.
4. Family Time.
I talk to my mom once a week, and then usually have some text conversation with my family members at some point. Admittedly, these are my favorite times of the week, but they just don't rise up to physically hugging your family. Or the group snuggle.
5. No homework.
College is great, because nobody is going to assign a six page paper over break. Instead, you have at least a month to work or sit around and watch Christmas movies. Tell me what's better than that. I'll wait.
