Out of these many shows and festvials there are five top concerts and festivals you must check out in the area, featuring big names like TOKiMONSTA, Afrojack, Ekali, Datsik, and many more. If you are given the chance to go to any of these events definitely take it, they are all ones not to miss out on.

  1. TOKiMONSTA & CRi

TOKiMONSTA (Jennifer Lee) is known around Los Angeles and now worldwide for her unique sound, mixing indie electronic, R&B, and dance music. Accompanying TOKiMONSTA for the night is CRi, a male artist from Montreal, Canada. With a new EP coming out this February, CRi is sure to blow every attendee away. The dynamic duo of TOKiMONSTA and CRi is one not to be taken lightly.
  2. Crush San Francisco
    1. Where: Bill Graham Civic Auditorium (San Francisco) February 11
    2. Genre: Electronic, Trap, House, Dance, Hip-Hop, Techno
    3. Tickets: http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/1C0051887D3616C3
    4. About: Crush San Francisco is an annual show created by Insomniac to celebrate Valentine’s Day. This year’s lineup features Afrojack, Andrew Luce, Illenium, Shaun Frank, Team EZY, and Wiwek. Though all of these artist’s are equally talented and provide many different sounds for just one venue, the performer to keep an eye out for is Andrew Luce. Andrew Luce provides experimental sounds that create a relationship between the listener and the song. With every beat matching your heartbeat, Andrew Luce will take you to another place during his set. All six performers will make tickets well worth the price, but make sure not to miss a second of Andrew Luce, you will regret it if you do.
  3. Joyryde, Dr. Fresch, Aryay, Sam F.
    1. Where: Ruby Skye (San Francisco) February 16
    2. Genre: Deep House, Electronic, Dubstep

    4. About: February 16, just two days after Valentine’s day Joyryde, Dr. Fresch, Aryay, and Sam F. are brining their beats to the bay area. The venue, Ruby Skye, is a fun club located in the heart of the city, the perfect venue for the deep house and electronic sounds produced by the four artists. Even though a few days off, this could be a great Valentine’s gift for your significant other!
  4. Wobbleland festival
    1. Where: City National Civic (San Jose) February 17-19
    2. Genre: Electronic, Dubstep, Hip-hop, Deep House, Techno
    3. Tickets: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/wobbleland-2017-ticke...
    4. About: Wobbleland San Jose is a three- day festival thrown annually in February to kick off festival season. This year’s lineup includes Snails, Ekali, REZZ, Krane, Alexander Lewis, Luca Lush, Josh Pan, Phiso, Aweminus, Definitive Dubs, Sam F, Yntendo, Zomboy, Party Favor, Kayzo, Jackal, Bleep Bloop, Midnight Tyrannosaurus, Jameston Thieves, YOOKiE, Datsik, Valentino Khan, Joyryde, TrollPhace, Trampa, Quix, Woolymammoth, and Bishu. Out of all of these amazingly talented artists, the number one to look out for in my opinion is female DJ, REZZ. REZZ, or Isabelle Rezazadeh, is a twenty year old female DJ who is quickly taking the electronic music scene by storm. Over the past few months REZZ has blown up from an underground DJ to one with a much more well known name. After seeing her at Countdown NYE in December, this DJ is someone who definitely has my attention. If given the chance to attend Wobbleland, see as many acts as you can, but definitely do not miss REZZ.
  5. TroyBoi
    1. Where: The Catalyst (San Jose) February 18
    2. Genre: Hip-hop, trap, House, Dance, Rap

    4. About: TroyBoi, a native London boy, is easily one of the most up and coming artist’s of the hip-hop and trap world. With two new songs that just came out in the past month and a half, TroyBoi is working hard and fast on new beats for all of his fans. Hurry and grab tickets for this show before they sell out; TroyBoi is soon to be someone who sells out in just a few minutes.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
