The American League playoff race is getting closer and closer. There are teams that are on the outside looking in and teams that have an edge over everyone else. Here are my top five power rankings in the American League.
5. Baltimore Orioles
The Orioles lately have been sliding. Baltimore came off of a West Coast road trip they didn’t do well in. They came back home to play the Boston Red Sox and that didn’t go well either. Guys like Kevin Gausman, Chris Tillman, Chris Davis, and Manny Machado need to step up form them to make the playoffs. This team has shown us all year that they are a playoff contender but the way they have been playing it doesn’t look like it. Baltimore needs to turn it around or there going to be watching the postseason from home.
4. Boston Red Sox
One of the hottest teams in baseball, the Red Sox are rolling. The past couple of weeks the Red Sox have had great pitching. The offense came alive and now are supplying pitcher with run support. They have a difficult schedule the rest of the way but Boston can handle it. This is not a team you want to play in October. If Boston continue to win against good teams, they could run the table to the World Series.
3. Toronto Blue Jays
The Blue Jays are in first place in the AL East. With Boston and Baltimore right behind them, they need to create distance. Just like Boston, they have a great offense. J. A. Happ and Aaron Sanchez have been huge in the starting pitching roll.
2. Cleveland Indians
The Indians have all the peace’s to make a deep playoff run. Mike Napoli has supplied huge offense power form them. The Pitching that the Indians have is ridiculous and probably the most stacked starting pitching staff in the American League.
1. Texas Rangers
The Rangers are the team to beat in the American League. The Rangers have a collection of young talent and veteran players that mix well together. When the Rangers get everyone back at the start of September, watch out.
