I honestly can't believe that it's already time for one of my favorite weeks out of the fall semester (a close second behind Thanksgiving break). IT'S HOMECOMING WEEK 2016! There is a positive atmosphere during this week with all the school pride. I would have to say that's why I love this week so much. We set our individual differences aside (for the most part) and celebrate this university's rich and beautiful history.

Obviously, this is only 5 of the many activities and events going on during Homecoming Week. Click the link for the full list.

5. Kick-Off

This gets you pumped for the week ahead!

When and where: Monday night at 5:30 pm, Lawther Field.

4. Decorating Contest

It's fun to see the offices you walk by every day all decorated up.

When and where: Tuesday 10 am, all of campus.

3. Campaniling & Cocoa and Kisses

Source: Melissa Curtis

People have differing opinions on Campaniling. To me? It's what you make of it. If you feel awkward going to it, go with some friends. If you don't want to participate, you don't have to, because also there's hot chocolate and chocolate kisses in Rod Library.

When and where: Friday/Saturday 12 am, Campanile Plaza and Library.

2. The Parade

I must confess I haven't been able to watch the parade in person because of outstanding circumstances. This year I can and you bet I will be watching with my bag ready for candy (I have no shame).

When and where: Saturday 11 am, Cedar Falls/UNI Campus

1. Tailgating/The Game

Source: @tstolley23

While I haven't tailgated before, I've heard it's an exciting and fun time to prepare for the game. Win or lose (hopefully win!), the point of the game and the week is to show your pride and loyalty to your school, aka the University of Nothing Impossible.

When and where: Saturday 4 pm, UNI Dome.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
