Christmas is now over and the new year has just begun. You are now thinking to yourself, what should I do now that I am off for a month. Other than work or winter classes, you would want to find a way to keep yourself entertained until the beginning of February. Here are the top five activities that you can do in the New York City area over the winter break.
1) Strolling Through the Park One Day
Even though the leaves have fallen and some days might be cloudy and grey, there are still some beautiful sights to capture in a New York City Park. Whether it is Central Park or Clove Lakes Park here on Staten Island, there are numerous things to do. If it is a snowy day, park goers could either have snowball fights, sled, ice skate, or even capture the wintery sights through their camera lens. Even if there is no snow, there are still beautiful sights of animals and lakes in several different parks to take in!
2) Give My Regards to Broadway!
Whether you have gotten tickets as a Christmas gift from family or friends, you can attend a Broadway show in New York City. During the new year, there are new shows that have been released last year such as the revival of Cats, Dear Evan Hansen, and the Great Comet of 1812. Some of the broadway shows out so far have received a positive reaction from audiences and some of them kept us entertained since our childhood.
3) Pinot's Palette
A great way to spend time with friends who came back home for the break is a night of painting and a good time. Pinot's Palette is an art studio, which is also the perfect place for hosting painting parties, date nights, and even friend gatherings! Other than spending the night painting at Pinot's Palette, there is also time for socializing with other people from different parts of Staten Island!
4) A Trip to the Museum
For those who have an interest in the arts or history, a day trip to the museum is what you need. There are several museums in the New York City area that would feed your interests and mind such as the Museum of Modern Art and the New York Historical Society. Also if you are still in the Christmas mood, there is an exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum that is known as the Christmas Tree and Neapolitan Baroque Crèche.
5) All You Can Eat!
There are different places in Staten Island and New York City that will satisfy your taste buds when visiting your favorite places to eat. If you are looking for a place for Sunday Brunch, there is the Project Brunch Café with their crazy delicious milkshakes and frozen hot chocolate drinks! Another eatery in Staten Island that I would highly recommend is Pasticceria Bruno, which is one of my favorite brunch spots on Staten Island. Not only is it a bakery, but it is also a restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and Sunday brunch.
