All my life I have been interesting in history, especially the 1940s, which of course was encompassed largely by WW2. Therefore, I have seen quite a few movies revolving around the subject. Below are my top five:
1. Hacksaw Ridge
This film came out in 2016 and revolves around Desmond Dawes, a pacifist whom wanted to do his part in the war. Refusing to handle a weapon, as it went against his believes, he instead became a medic. This film does a spectacular job at depicting a touching true story of a humble hero.
2. Dunkirk
Dunkirk was released in 2017 and revolves around the story of Allied soldiers being trapped on the beaches of Dunkirk by the German and French. The film paints an image of land, air, and sea evacuations that took place. Like Hacksaw Ridge, the story of Dunkirk is absolutely a truthful one.
3. Valkyrie
This film was released in 2008 and revolves around German Col. Claus von Stauffenberg as he goes from loyal Nazi party member to a member of the German resistance. He joins others in attempt to overthrow the director of Operation Valkyrie and dismantle the Nazi government from the inside.
4. Schindler's List
This film was released in 1993 and revolves around Oskar Schindler, a business man whom sees the opportunity for cheap labor in the hiring of Jewish people. However, over the course of the film, Schindler becomes more and more concerned for the well-being of those working under him. Schindler's List is also based on a true story.
