Prince Charming who?

A lot of people talk about how wonderful all the Disney princesses are, but I am here to break it down for you and show you who the top four Disney princes are.

1. Li Shang from Mulan

Li Shang is by far the best male lead that Disney has ever produced…Although he can be a little hot tempered (come on guys, he was preparing for war), he was dedicated, honest, and loyal. He stopped Chi-Fu from beheading Mulan when it came out that she was actually female. He put aside his feelings of betrayal and saved her from death, which would have been her rightful penalty during that time period. At the end, he also chose to trust Mulan, and help her defeat the Huns. Some people make fun of him because he isn’t as good with words as some Disney male leads. An example of this can be seen in his famous quote when he tells Mulan, “You fight good”. But, no man is perfect. I personally would rather a man who fights alongside me and is not that good with words than a man who does nothing (cough…cough…Prince Charming). Li Shang also found where Mulan lived to give her back her stuff and get her father’s permission to court his daughter…I mean any guy who would ask a girl’s father for permission is amazing in my book. If this hasn’t convinced you that Shang is the best just remember… he is as swift as a coursing river and has the strength of a raging fire…and is as mysterious as the dark side of the moon…what can be better than that?!

2. Eric from The Little Mermaid

Eric is the second best male lead that Disney has ever produced. He may be a little dense at times, not going in for the kiss when he should, and not being able to recognize who Ariel was without her voice, but no guy is perfect. The reason Eric is the second best male lead is because he fought this gigantic Sea Witch for Ariel, and WON. He also accepted Ariel with all her peculiarities…being a mermaid is one. He never asked her to change for him, but supported her in all of her decisions and even accepted her sea family without questions.

3. Prince Adam from Beauty and the Beast

A lot of people say a lot of bad things about the Beast because he captured Belle and kept her in the castle, although this was wrong, one must understand that at this point he is a beast and not a very nice guy. He has issues. However, in the end, Belle’s love cures him of his curse. HE allows her to leave the castle to save her father even though it means he will forever be a beast. In the end he also DIES trying to save Belle from Gaston, if this doesn’t prove how good of a guy he is, I don’t know what will.

4. Prince Phillip from Sleeping Beauty

A lot of people do not give Prince Phillip enough credit. He met this “commoner” out in the woods, and he fell in love with her. He did not care what her status was, or who she really was. He knew none of that mattered when you meet “the one”. He even went as far as defying his father who had an arranged marriage prepared for him, to go out and try and find this mystical woman he fell in love with (even though his father had arranged him to marry the same person he met in the woods). For these reasons Prince Phillip ends our top four Disney male leads.

So whenever you see the Disney princes, like Prince Charming, who dictated to one of his servants to find his girl for him, just remember who the real men of Disney are.

We Heart It

Over the past decade, television has undergone a very crucial transition: the incorporation of female lead characters. Since it's a known fact that girls actually do run the world (Beyonce said so herself), it's time for the leading ladies of the small screen to get some credit. Without these characters, women would still be sitting in the background of our favorite shows. These women are not only trailblazers for female empowerment, but role models for women worldwide. With that, here are 15 of the smartest, sassiest ladies gracing our screens that remind us that women do, indeed, rule:
