The Top 4 Best Aspects Of Back To School

Late August, early September is a special time of year for most people. It is SCHOOL TIME! Whether you are a kid going back to elementary, middle or high school, a young adult going to college, or a parent going to college themselves or sending their own youngsters back to school everybody needs to be prepared. Being the nerd that I am I love going back to school. Here are the top 4 things that are amazing about going back to school.

1. Seeing Friends

Whether or not you are in secondary school or college coming back to the friends that you maybe have not been able to see or hang out with all summer is the best feeling. You get to spend so much time catching up with them about each of your summers. The friends that are with you throughout your years of schooling are a big part of what keeps you going. Reconnecting with them or meeting new people in general is key.

2. School Shopping

One of my favorite things about going back to school is shopping for school supplies and sometimes new clothing. I love to go back to school with fresh pens, and crisp new notebooks. I usually pick out one notebook for each class and am so excited to use the cute notebooks I pick. I usually load myself up with more packages of pens than I could ever use, but you'd be surprised how many pens you'll loose throughout the school year.

3. Starting New Classes

This is more so for college students because we often are picking mostly all classes that we are interested in to complete our major. But for me, going back to school means I get to start all of the classes that I was so excited about taking when picking them a few months before.

4. You're closer to the end!

My last and final reason for loving the back to school season is that in reality going back to school means you are moving closer to being done. Even if you're a freshman and just starting, the sooner you start school the faster it will go. People like to say high school goes by fast especially after Christmas, college goes by even faster. Soon you will be able to graduate and start the next amazing chapter in your life.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
