Everyday Things that Make no Sense

The Top 3 Things I Don't Get About People
The Odyssey Online

There are many things about people my age that confuse me to no end. I often find myself wondering just why people do certain specific things pretty much every day. Here is a list of a few of those things:

1. Talking to Someone on their Cell Phone in a Public Bathroom

If people don't know it's being done, that's fine, but when you're talking to someone either normally or using speakerphone, that's when it gets weird. It's really weird when you're talking to someone on speakerphone because public bathrooms tend to make voices echo. If you're not alone, the other people in the bathroom are going to think that you're really strange and quite possibly gross. And I do believe that the person on the other end of the call can hear you in the bathroom, so that makes the situation weird and uncomfortable for them as well. It really makes no sense to me why people do this.

2. Insulting/Swearing at your Friends On Purpose

I couldn't have friends like this, I don't need that kind of negativity in my life. Apparently this is a norm among many friend groups, and I just don't understand why. Who is totally comfortable with calling a friend a 'b--ch' and laughing about it? It just makes no sense. If an outside observer heard that, they might think that you were having a fight with your friend or something. As comfortable as you are around your friends, I don't believe that swearing at and insulting each other is ever necessary.

3. Making Loud & Unnecessary Noise

I can understand screaming with joy after you see a friend you haven't seen in a while (though that's irksome as well), but screeching loud enough to echo down a hallway after you've only been apart for a few hours is simply ridiculous. On top of that, you can have conversations about something exciting at a normal noise level instead of shouting back and forth about it. I really don't understand people that feel the need to do this. You will get a lot of dirty looks from others if you're out in public doing this.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
