Music's praise of mumbling rappers and F-me-now songs are boring me like no other lately. For the past few weeks, I've been scouring the vast wilderness and the most remote jungles for music that actually doesn't talk about drugs, clubs or any clichés- and I struck a jackpot from 90s-2000s.
WARNING -The following material might create: sentiments of nostalgia and sadness, tears, longing for exes and massive bank-breaking purchases of ice cream and tissues.
1. Jojo
Jojo is life, Jojo is love and she is the embodiment of perfection. Her voice is the childhood to 90s babies and her albums nail that era's smooth and heavenly sound.
2. TLC
TLC and other R&B powerhouses didn't take BS from the industry - their music had a message. Club songs have their time and place, but popular groups like TLC spoke about having standards, self-improvement-- concepts that are extinct in today's mainstream. RIP Left Eye.
3. Ne-Yo
Class, mainstream appeal, success and sophistication personified. #Respect #StayClassy
