A Few Shining Moments From The Four Day Extravaganza

Top 3 Moments From The Democratic National Convention 2016

This past week I attended the Democratic National Convention 2016. The four days were filled with wonderful moments but a few stood out above the rest. If you missed the Convention, here are a few shining moments from the four day extravaganza.

1. Herstory

Obviously, the number 1 stand out moment of the entire convention was Hillary Clinton’s acceptance speech, making her the first female presidential nominee for a major party. The energy of the entire arena was electric, filled with excitement and joy for the path our country is headed down, a path where no matter who you are, an African American or a woman, you can truly have the opportunity to become president.

2. President Obama Passes over the Baton

President Obama gave an unforgettable speech on the third day of the convention. Like always, he spoke words of hope and inspiration. The president got the entire arena excited to back Hillary in this next election, reminding citizens in the arena and at home why Clinton is the most qualified individual to become president. He left the crowd with encouragements to support Hillary the way we have all supported him. President Obama is a truly amazing individual and I am so blessed to have been able see him inspire so many in person.

3. Michelle Obama Slays as Always

If you didn't know, Michelle Obama is the most perfect human being on the planet. She kept her status alive on the fist night of the conventing with a speech that gave chills and caused a few tears. Michelle spotlighted the fact that she wakes up everyday in a house built by slaves, revealing how far this country has come and the huge impact the Obama family has made in history. Or first lady is truly one of a kind and will always be looked up to, even after the Obama presidency.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
