This is totally going to sound crazy to the male species, but more often than not, do we women fall totally head over heels in love with fictional characters from whatever TV series we're currently watching— or love to binge on, to say the least. It might be their charm and charisma. Or maybe it's because they're the bad boy or heartthrob. Whatever it may be, it just happens. They ironically, low-key set such high expectations to the point of almost ruining dating for us. It's so crazy though... because they're not real.
This wasn't easy but here's a countdown of TV's top 25 fictional boyfriends:
25. Matty McKibben- "Awkward."
Probably not the boy of your dreams at first despite his beautiful, contagious smile. I mean, come on. Who would want to be with someone that takes their virginity then makes it a secret to hanging out with you afterward? Well, it's a good thing this jock changes and we see him for the real him— sensitive, confused about his feelings, but wants love.
24. Jake Jagielski- "One Tree Hill"
The dreamy and sensitive guy that had to grow up before everyone else. He might have a daughter but he's one of the most genuine, big-hearted guys throughout the entire series. Plus, it warms our hearts every single time we see him sing to Jenny, am I right?
23. Nate Archibald- "Gossip Girl"
The most fratty of them all, but not entirely that bad of a person. He's got that good boy/bad boy thing going, who in the long run matures up and is arguably the most successful out of his friends— but did so on his own, for the most part. I mean, so what if he was sleeping with a cougar for a little bit, right?
22. Schmidt- "New Girl"
Oh, Schmidt. There's so much to love about this guy. He's so sweet and sensitive. He's driven and will undoubtedly make you laugh every second of every single day and love you with his whole being.
21. Dean Winchester- "Supernatural"
Regardless of what he does for a living and the awkward, tragic life he lives because of it— dang, boy. You are hot and funny and have the best sense of humor with the most gorgeous eyes. With that big heart and protective instinct, I could never turn you down... ever.
20. Michael Cordero Jr. - "Jane the Virgin"
I think everyone can agree most guys would have immediately bounced from this entire messy situation that was brought upon Jane yet Michael didn't. He stayed around, was patient and determined to get her back— he never gave up on their love. Ugh.
19. Lucas Scott- "One Tree Hill"
Lucas Eugene Scott— If you weren't so indecisive about every single girl in your life you'd rank so much higher. You're easily the most romantic out of everyone on this list, plus it only works in your favor that you're so nice to look at. I must say, this moment with Brooke, is EASILY, your claim to fame moment on why we [ I ] love you.
18. Damon Salvatore- "The Vampire Diaries"
I don't even care that he's a vampire because, I mean, look at him. He's so sexual and completely fits the sexy "bad boy" persona. We learn that deep down he isn't as tough as he makes himself to seem. If you like dry humor, passion and the sense of always being protected— he's 100% for you.
17. Mr. Big- "Sex and the City"
Okay, Mr. Big. You're quite something to analyze. Most people are Team Big over Team Aidan but if you look at it logistically speaking, he's not the IDEAL boyfriend but will we ever turn it down? No, because most of us have Mr. Big syndrome every now and then. You'd make us happy and feel sexy, but for you, passion was more your style than commitment— but at the end of the day, it was always you, so all the bumps in the road were worth it.
16. Matt Saracen- "Friday Night Lights"
The nobody that turns into a somebody. He's extremely awkward and when he tries to not be awkward, it comes off super nerdy— which makes him that much cuter. He's not afraid to cry, has major family values and has a deep soul. He went away to school for art!! Clearly, he's got "good boy" written all over him.
15. Jess Mariano- "Gilmore Girls"
Bad a** on the outside, poet/writer on the inside. He's full of spunk, sarcasm and good looks. He was polar opposite from Rory but they were so good together. He got his act together and became a published author, so he's metaphorically living proof that maybe going after the bad boy isn't always a bad thing...
14. Ryan Atwood- "The O.C."
The baddest of them all. Crazy how girls love the chase of landing the bad boy just as much as they love the chase to get us, right? Coming from an awful background to living in Ocean County, California— it's safe to say he stood out. The more into the series we get, the more impossible it is to not fall in love with him.
13. Jax Teller- "Sons of Anarchy"
He defines the "ride or die" type. He's bad to the bone but loves extremely hard. He screws up here and there with a temper but when it comes to loyalty, you can depend on him. If you were to love him wholeheartedly and can accept the anarchy, you'll survive... The relationship, you know.
12. Oliver Queen- "Arrow"
Ex-bad boy, Oliver Queen— protective big brother by day and super hero by night. He's always looking out for others when most of the time he should probably start looking out for himself. He has bachelor qualities but with the growing up he did and attempt to ease down his stubbornness— he's totally husband material. Irresistible isn't even good enough of a word when looking at him and that jawline.
11. Marshall Ericksen- "How I Met Your Mother"
Super awkward but such a teddy bear. He's proved himself to be dependable and will always make sure you feel loved. His main priority is making sure you'd feel safe and happy. Marshall and Lily have been together, rockin' since '96, so you know he's in it for the long haul.
10. Cappie- "Greek"
Cappie is one of those guys that doesn't really know how to get their sh*t together yet you crave being with him. He has a way with words and loves deeply, always managing to put a smile on your face. Despite what one might think, he's super intellectual and that's sexy all in itself, isn't it?
9. Steve Hale- "Full House"
Before most of us even knew what love was, we loved Steve. He's such a goof ball and the way he looked at DJ is what we all hope for one day. The fact that the family LOVED him.. isn't that all we want in our future boyfriend or husband, really? Plus, he loves to eat so no matter how domestic you are or not, he'll be satisfied.
8. Ben Wyatt- "Parks and Recreation"
Definitely an interesting character, but he makes the cut. He might be nerdy but he proved himself to be a "zeitgeist." He's not afraid to be a dork and is totally honest, even if it might sound lame out loud. He won't ever hesitate to tell you how much he loves you. He's goofy, so what's not to love?
7. Jackson Avery- "Grey's Anatomy"
Hot, hot, hot. Smart, smart, smart. Eyes, eyes, eyes. Boy, you are picture perfect and stunning. You can just look at him and instantly feel your heart beating a million beats a minute. He fights for what he wants, especially in terms of love. He's a go-getter. Did I mention hot?
6. Chuck Bass- "Gossip Girl"
Okay, if you didn't finish "Gossip Girl," you probably think the absolute worst of Chuck— and I don't blame you. But when it comes to Blair... Holy sh*t. He goes way, way above and beyond for her. How many guys do you know (I mean, probably not many because he was a billionaire), would fly all around the world to pick up Blair's favorite things plus macaroons from France just so he could show and tell her how much he loves her.... Yeah, none.
5. Pacey Witter- "Dawson's Creek"
It blows my mind that not many people actually know "Dawson's Creek." Let me assure you that Pacey Witter is all more of the reason that you SHOULD watch this show. He's the type of guy that gives you hope that you can absolutely fall in love and live a happily ever after with someone you least expect to... Even if that means it's with your best friend. He's witty, romantic and just an overall good guy.
4. Jim Halpert- The Office"
Okay, Jim is seriously a great combination of lots of things. He’s adorable, hilarious, sweet, romantic and just an all-around stand up sort of guy. He loves to have fun and will show you that it's okay to still act like a kid, with an occasional prank or two. He is so unbelievably in love with Pam and that's just amazing.3. Tim Riggins- "Friday Night Lights"
Tim freaking Riggins. So sexy, so athletic. He does some major growing up throughout the entire series and it's impossible to not fall in love with him more every second of each episode. The way he protects and respects women... Ugh. He makes constant sacrifices for the sake of the ones he loves, too. If only I could meet you in real life because I'd totally say, "I do."
2. Nathan Scott- "One Tree Hill"
The cocky, arrogant athlete that turns into the sweet, caring *legitimately* perfect man. I don't know if I'd marry you at 16 but I do know that I would do absolutely anything and everything to make sure you're mine until we're old enough to tie the knot. You're gorgeous, funny, protective and so thoughtful. Not to mention a DILF— yeah, I'm not ashamed to say it, either. Always and forever, babe.
1. Seth Cohen- "The O.C"
What do you want from me, Cohen? Ugh. Seth is literally amazing and perfect and high-key such a babe. He's a dork but he's our dork. He's not afraid to cry in movies and says the corniest things— my favorite, not going to lie. I personally love corny. He isn't afraid to express his feelings and is KING at coming up with the most perfect things to say at the most unexpected times. If you were to look up "Seth and Summer," you'll melt inside, guaranteed. They are such #GOALS.
