Top 20 Songs to Jam to in the Car

Living in Southern California we spend a lot of time in the car, thanks to traffic. Instead of incessantly complaining about the traffic that’s never going to go away, play some of these songs and turn the traffic into a jam!

  1. Ignition-Remix by R. Kelly: This song has a great beat and no matter how hard you try you’re going to end up giving that toot toot!
  2. Closer by Chainsmokers: No matter how many times you hear this song, it gets better every time.
  3. Love Story by Taylor Swift: Taylor Swift has tons of great songs to sing to in the car and it was hard to choose just one. But this song takes me back to the middle school days, wait maybe that’s a bad thing.
  4. Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars: Even if you’re sitting down this jam will make you tap your feet and want to get down, its just too hot.
  5. Eye of the Tiger by Survivor: This is just a classic song that anyone with a pulse should at least recognize. Just listening to this song makes you feel like you can take on the world.
  6. I’m Yours by Jason Mraz: Once again multiple of his songs could have easily made this list but this one has a special place in my heart and no matter what mood I’m in, I’ll always sing along.
  7. Say Something by Great Big World & Christina Aguilera: This is an emotional song perfect for a late night jam session on your way back from the beach or just driving around town.
  8. Set Fire to the Rain by Adele: Adele has so many great songs so choosing one was difficult, but this song is a perfect combination of her flawless vocals along with notes us peasants can sing.
  9. Make a Man Out of You from Mulan: I love Disney movies. No matter how old I get I will always watch the Disney classics like Aladdin and Monsters Inc. As a child I always loved to sing this song at the top of my lungs and to this day not much has changed.
  10. Lose Yourself by Eminem: No matter how bad I am at rapping (which is really bad) I always attempt to sing along to this song. I last a good 30 seconds before I’m out of breath and practically panting. But there’s nothing better than making a fool of yourself with your friends.
  11. Counting Stars by One Republic: The chorus of this song is easy to sing at the top of your lungs as you zip (or crawl) through traffic.
  12. Banana Pancakes by Jack Johnson: This is a feel good song that makes you want to snuggle up with a loved one. Or you could use it to serenade the poor soul sitting next to you.
  13. I Took a Pill in Ibiza (Seeb Remix) by Mike Posner: This is a great hype song for the whole squad to rock out to before the night begins.
  14. Bubbly by Colbie Caillat: This song sends your mind into overdrive imagining a perfect life with the guy you’re in love with. You know the one who you make magical eye contact with on the Spine every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
  15. Drunk in Love by Beyonce: Queen B has so many great songs but this one especially gets your body moving even while struggling against the seatbelt, remember safety first!
  16. Tik Tok by Kesha: Ever since I danced to this song on Just Dance it has been one of my go to jams and it will continue to be a go to.
  17. Sorry by Justin Bieber: Justin Bieber has a lot to say sorry for. But, this song is not one of them. Play this song and even the Bieber haters will sing along.
  18. Young, Wild &Free by Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg: This song lets me feel like I am living an exciting edgy life, when in reality I’m driving around Thousand Oaks.
  19. Jordan Belfort by Wes Walker & DYL: I’m not going to lie I don’t know who Jordan Belfort is but this song makes it seem like he had an exciting life and really get’s the night started strong.
  20. California Girls by Katy Perry: This song is inspirational to California girls everywhere. Whenever I sing along I feel confident although none of the stuff mentioned has ever happened to me.

Confession time, I was totally rocking along to these songs alone while writing this article. So use these to pump up your next drive with your friends and you can all sing at the top your lungs unashamed.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
