We all know the basic short-haired breeds: the Labrador, the Boxer, the German Shepherd, the Golden Retriever, etc. But do you know the stranger breeds, the ones with wild fur and strange statures? Here's a list of some of the wildest looks in the dog world.
1. Bearded Collie
This boy is Scottish as hell, and certainly looks it. He's a great family pet, and his long fur probably looks super majestic flowing in the breeze.
2. Bergamasco Shepherd
A boy bred to herd, he sure looks great with his dreadlock-esque fur. He's a very patient and determined boy, and is sure to work hard to make sure you're proud of him.
3. Afghan Hound
Now this boy is majestic. One of his personality traits is "aloof," which seems pretty perfect, since he's got that good hair and already knows he looks fabulous.
4. Basset Hound
Even though this boy looks kinda sad, he's not! He's actually very loving and gentle, and is great with kids. He's just a droopy fella.
5. Bedlington Terrier
Here's the boy that inspired this whole list. I just don't even know what his hair situation is tbh. Apparently he looks like a lamb, but I think he looks more like a hammerhead. Still a great boy though!
6. Kerry Blue Terrier
This boy is often just called a Kerry, which I think is adorable. He was originally used for hunting vermin, but is just a general working dog now. He's also got some sweet facial hair.
7. Scottish Terrier
These very good boys remind me of small old men. They're just so shaggy and tiny and adorable. They're also feisty!
8. Skye Terrier
These hairy boys are an endangered breed in the UK, which is incredibly upsetting. They're fearless though, which may just be because they can't see what they're supposed to be afraid of.
9. Sealyham Terrier
Here's another boy rockin' some facial hair. He's a friendly working dog, and will love you as long as you help him groom his 'stache.
10. Affenpinscher
This little boy is also called "monkey face!" He does have the face for it. He's very playful and would love to romp around your house.
11. Bichon Frise
This is a feisty fluffball boy. He's very prominently featured on dog food cans and in commercials, because he's so adorable. He'd also love to romp around, I'm sure.
12. Coton de Tulear
Another very fluffy boy here. He's also hypoallergenic and very vocal! He's highly trainable too, and would probably learn how to dance just for you.
13. Chinese Crested Dog
So this boy is also hypoallergenic, but he's more self-explanatory. This dog just looks unfortunate, really. He's supposed to have a lion mane, but ehhhhh...
14. Lowchen
This little fella is called the "Little Lion Dog." I guess he has a bit more of a mane than hairless up there, but he also doesn't have leg hair for some odd reason. Maybe he'd like some pants.
15. Maltese
This lovely little boy has so much luxurious hair that he needs tiny clips to keep it out of his eyes. He also has some fantastic facial hair, and would definitely appreciate it if you groomed him all the time.
16. Pekingese
So these little guys are just tiny balls of fur. They're also called "Lion Dogs," but man are they squishy-looking. I bet they would look really great running through a field.
17. Lhasa Apso
This little fella was originally bred as an alert dog for ancient monks, which is super cool. Nowadays they're just very hard to take proper care of, due to their overwhelmingly flowing hair.
18. Shar Pei
This boy is just wrinkles in dog form. They're really lovely boys, but unfortunately have a lot of health problems due to their wrinkles. They really are just huge teddy bears though.
19. Poodle
These boys are probably the most stylish, with their easily shaved fur. They are fantastically intelligent as well, and are one of the most underrated mainstream dog breeds, in my opinion. I just love them a lot, okay?
And there you have some of the most fashionable and least fashionable of the canine kingdom. If you check out my list from last week, you can see some more wonderful breeds!
