Top 15 Songs By Lissie
GroundSounds

I've been listening to singer/songwriter, Lissie, since my junior year of high school. I saw one of her music videos on VH1 before I went to school, and I was instantly hooked on her music. She has an indie, folk, acoustic, and rock vibes going on throughout her songs. Her music has helped me get through bad times, sad times, and always the happy times. Many of my friends haven't heard of her, so I feel it's necessary to make a list of my top 15 favorite songs by Lissie.

15. "Hero"

This song is definitely something you want to listen to in your car. I would categorize this as road trip music.

14. "Mother"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUmw2iYgFbs

Originally sung by Danzig. The guitar in the beginning of this cover is haunting in the best way possible. This is, dare I say, better than the original?

13. "Oh Mississippi"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=623ln15-5fo

Switching from guitar to piano, this song literally gives me chills every time I hear it.

12. "Sleepwalking"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1R5h_6fdv1c

This song has a pretty good beat, although the lyrics are a bit sad. But it's the kind of sad most people can relate to. Most of her music is like this in my opinion.

11. "Little Lovin"

This is a song that you you instantly sing the chorus when you hear it the first time. The occasional little bell in the music helps the song perk up too. It almost has a southern music feel.

10. "Wedding Bells"

Lyrics are a bit sad, but the tune balances it out. Definitely on my Lissie playlist!

9. "Go Your Own Way"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OltcXMV-9Vk

This Fleetwood Mac cover is absolutely amazing! I love how she slowed down the song. Still just as good to listen to as the original.

8. "Can't Take It Back"

This is a song I sing as loud as I can in the car. This is song to listen to if you're thinking about exes and old friends.

7. "When I'm Alone"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7G0_eN36QVc

This is the song that got me loving Lissie to begin with! This is the music video I saw back in high school as I was getting ready for school. This song gave me a music style I enjoy.

6. "Hold On, We're Going Home"

Yes, this is a Drake cover! And yes, it's good! Trust me on this!

5. "Further Away (Romance Police)"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0FAPa7lNss

An upbeat song about a guy treating a girl wrong, and the girl is being given advice. It's great! The guitar solo though!

4. "Pursuit of Happiness"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQMJCOT2wlQ

Again, another amazing cover! Originally by Kid Cudi, this cover is amazing. It's spot on!

3. "Shameless"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5vzZcbH39E

This song is almost indie-rock? Definitely an anthem for people who are, well shameless.

2. "Everywhere I Go"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYGDe9JsQWE

This song is a song you listen to if you want chills! Her voice is breathtaking.

1. "Don't You Give Up On Me"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQevK_bUV9g

This is my number one song. To me, the lyrics create beautiful imagery. Very motivational for anyone that feels they're being given up on.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
