9 Most Emotional Moments on Grey's Anatomy

*DISCLAIMER* SPOILERS AHEAD! Do not read this article unless you have watched Grey's Anatomy through Season 12.

Okay, let me start off by saying, Grey's Anatomy is one of the most dramatic, heart wrenching, emotion wrecking and all consuming shows you will watch in your entire life. It will take up every second of your free time and you will continue to watch the show on repeat until the next season comes out, but it is well worth it. Each and every character becomes a part of your weird and extremely dysfunctional Grey's Anatomy family and with each death comes a new storm of grief. All that being said, Grey's is one of the most well executed shows of our generation and Shonda Rhimes continues to outdo herself time and again. Lets look back over the last 12 seasons and relive the most heart wrenching moments in television history:

1. Meredith Drowns

I honestly feel for Meredith in this moment. Her life has been full of tragedy, she is tired of being a victim to her circumstances and so she just gives up and "disappears". I am not condoning her suicide attempt whatsoever but I am saying I understand. However, the repercussions of her almost death is catastrophic. Derek's perfect world is shattered and their relationship requires serious mending. But even through all the emotions, she lives.

2. The Bomb

This is by far one of the most stressful episodes of the show. I remember watching this episode late at night and just saying "what the heck" over and over quietly so I didn't wake up the whole house. Meredith does what no one would ever do except Meredith Grey and shoves her hand into the patient to hold the bomb. She could have ducked for cover like Cristina and everyone else in the world but instead she SHOVES HER HAND ONTO THE BOMB. Round of applause for Meredith making a dumb yet courageous decision once again.

3. Denny's Death

Even after Izzie goes to extreme lengths in order to keep Denny, a patient she fell in love with, alive...HE STILL DIES. This was not only tragic but also annoying. Viewers went through an emotional roller coaster as Izzie cuts Denny's LVAD wire, steals an organ, gets all of her friends in trouble in the process of her illegal behavior, all ending as Denny still DIES. We can definitely blame Rhimes for this one as well as Izzie's recurring insanity.

4. George's Death

George was one of sweetest and most kind-hearted doctors on Grey's Anatomy even to this day. He lived with integrity and fought tirelessly for every patient put in his charge. When George was suddenly hit by a bus, audiences were taken by complete surprise. George was good and loving, he didn't deserve to die. This remains one of the hardest deaths to process.

5. The Shooting

I have a VERY strong love hate relationship with this episode. It is still one of my all time favorites but not only does Derek get shot, but Reed and Charles die, Alex almost bleeds out, April, Bailey and Lexie all have close calls, Bailey's patient gets caught in the crosshairs, Owen gets shot, Cristina operates on Derek, Meredith offers her life in exchange for Derek's and Dr. Webber almost dies as well. If Rhimes could have made a more dramatic episode I am sure she would have.

6.Callie and Arizona's Accident

This was such a preventable accident but of course Callie takes off her seat belt, while being pregnant may I add, Arizona proposes and then proceeds to crash into a completely stopped flatbed truck. The musical episode that takes place after is hated by most fans but I LOVE IT. Callie slays every song she sings and we get to hear the talents of Bailey, Lexie and Owen as well. Thank God Sofia lives.

7. Derek's Death

This death, like George's, is simply too much to bear. First of all, Derek didn't have to die but of course Ellen Pompeo was friends with Patrick Dempsey's ex wife and threatened to leave if the show if he didn't. So Rhimes needed Grey for Grey's anatomy and killed him in the worst way possible. If those incompetent Doctors had taken him in for a CT then the Derek we know and love would still be frolicking around the hospital being perfect. I sobbed for a solid 20 minutes during this episode and I can't keep talking about it or I will get upset.

8. Avery and April's Baby Dies

I honestly believe Shonda Rhimes hates all things love and happy endings. Haven't we fans been through enough Rhimes? Must you constantly kill our dreams that everything will at last be okay. April and Jackson were in my top five couples over these rigorous 12 seasons and the death of their precious baby severed them in two. April did not properly grieve and her denial over the death of their son ruined a beautiful relationship.

9. Custody battle over Sofia

First of all I hate Penny and I know she is nice but I hate her. Second of all, Callie caused this situation and then it backfired big time. What the heck Callie Torres. I know Arizona cheated on you and has screwed you over on multiple occasions but you seriously think you can take your child halfway across the US and she won't care? I had the hardest time watching these episodes because neither character deserved to lose custody. I didn't pick sides until I watched Callie fight dirty and wanted Sofia to stay with Arizona solely based on her character. This situation ends up good in the end but watching Callie lose Sofia will break your heart.

Alright Grey's fans, I think we have had enough emotional turmoil for one day. Go enjoy faking being a surgeon based on your extensive medical knowledge based solely on watching 12 season's of Grey's and don't think about Derek dying.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
