Detoxing our bodies is so incredibly important, especially considering how processed food has taken over grocery stores. It is major to keep our body healthy and happy, but it can sometimes be challenging to give up our guilty pleasures. For me, I have an intense sweet tooth and am always on the search for carbs.
But who says you can't eat something delicious, healthy, and purifying?
Here are the top 15 body cleansing fruits:
Lemon
Lemon contains high amounts of vitamin C. Adding a lemon (or lemon juice) to water and drinking it can flush toxins from the body.
Watermelon
Similar to lemon, watermelon helps the body flush out toxins. It contains citrulline, and helps the liver, as well as the kidneys, filter and get rid of ammonia.
Pomegranates
Pomegranates help the body fight disease and boost the immune system. An awesome source of a serious antioxidant boost!
Blueberries
Blueberries act as antibiotics by blocking bacteria in the urinary tract, thereby aiding to prevent infections.
Apples
Apples are high in pectin, and help eliminate toxic build up and cleanse the intestines.
Avocados
Packed with antioxidants, avocados lower cholesterol and dilate blood vessels while blocking artery destroying toxicity. *Bonus: They go well with virtually everything!
Grapefruit
Grapefruit is a fantastic intestinal and liver detoxifier. The fiber and the nutrient-rich juices in this delicacy pack a nice detox punch.
Cranberries
Although these bad boys may not be the favorite for most, cranberries are super antibacterial and cleanse the body from harmful bacteria, as well as from viruses that may be lingering in the urinary tract.
Fig
Another fruit that is often looked upon with disgust, fig is actually immensely nourishing, with great cleansing properties. Figs prevent development of toxic urine, also cleansing the kidney and bladder.
Cucumber
Cucumber isn't just for spas. Adding a few slices to water makes for a perfect re-hydration.
Papaya
This tropical fruit naturally detoxes the body, boosts energy, and promotes digestive health.
Kiwi
Packed with vitamin C, kiwi deepens the cleansing process and provides energy to start the morning right.
Goji Berries
Goji berries pack more vitamin C than oranges, and more beta-carotene than carrots. Vitamin C helps remove waste from the body, while beta-carotene improves liver performance.
Pineapples
This tropical delight contains bromelain, a digestive enzyme that helps cleanse the colon, as well as improve digestion.
Strawberries
Strawberries help unload toxins and can even help the body lose those few extra pounds, demonstrating its ultimate diuretic power.
After learning about all these yummy fruits (and yes, cucumber and avocados are fruits) and all of their cleansing properties, I hope you consider these options for your next snack or detox drink!
