1. DRIVE 2012
Martinez merged '80s synth sounds with up-to-date electro for this sexy, brooding score. Drive stands out as one of the finest cinematic synthesizer moments in recent years, creating a weirdly retro, nocturnal feel to match Nicolas Winding Refn's stylized filmmaking.
2. HANNA 2011
Hanna's soundtrack is energetic, dark and trippy. And it fits with the mood of the film perfectly.The Chemical Brothers did a great job once again.
After a year long chase, movie director Joseph Kosinski finally got Daft Punk to compose music for Tron Legacy. This was their debut fim score.
The entire soundtrack was made by Paul Kalkbrenner, with the exception of “Mango”, recorder by Sasha Funke. Deep house and minimal techno all the way in.
Party Monster revolves around the late-'80s/early-'90s New York club scene. Great producers and musicians like Ladytron, Miss Kittin, Nina Hagen, Marilyn Manson and Vitalic are part of this compilation.
Human Traffic is one of the better films about rave culture. The two-disc set features Orbital, Death in Vegas, CJ Bolland, Fat Boy Slim; The second CD is mixed by renowned DJ Pete Tong.
While Lola is running to acquire 100.000 German marks to save her boyfriends life Orchestral and aggressive drum & bass goes throughout the soundtrack. Interesting fact is that the Tom Tykwer, who is the director, is also the composer of most of the soundtrack.
8. PI 1998
Darren’s collaboration with Clint Mansell begins with this excellent soundtrack which includes music of Aphex Twin, Autechre, and Massive Attack. It even features the classic Ed Rush & Optical remix of Reprazent's "Watching Windows." Orbital and Gus Gus are part of it as well.
The Saint is a thriller from the late '90s starring Val Kilmer. Soundtrack contains Orbital's rework of "The Saint Theme," Daft Punk's pulsating "Da Funk"; Underworld's "Pearl's Girl" ,and Sneaker Pimps sexy "6 Underground" stand out, but there are also Fluke, Dreadzone, Moby, the Chemical Brothers, and many more.
10. THE JACKAL 1997
Through this American political/action/thriller movie, which is a loose remakeof the 1973 film The Day of the Jackal, you can hear a lot of good music. From Prodigy's "Poison" to the Moby mainstay "Shining," Primal Screams classic "Star" , Massive Attack and many more. The original score for "The Jackal" was composed by Carter Burwell, but it was never officially released on CD.
A great example of the mid-90s club life in Britain. 29 songs compiled by Damon Albarn (Blur) ranked as the 7th best motion picture soundtrack in history by Vanity Fair.
12. HACKERS 1995
Music soundtrack from thisteen/thriller/crimemovie, combines electronica, tribal rhythmsand techno/house musicof early hardcore groups like Prodigy, Underworldand Orbital. It was released in 3 separate volumes over three years. First edition of the soundtrack featured nothing but the tunes from the film, including beats from Underworld, Orbital and Carl Cox. The second and third are a mix of music "inspired by the film" as well as music actually in the film. The most featured song in the movie is "Voodoo People" by The Prodigy.
13. COOL WORLD 1992
In this case, the soundtrack exceeds the movie. You can hear David Bowie ,The Future Sound of London, The Cult, Moby, Da Juice, Tom Bailey and many others.
