This list is in no particular order. I enjoy all of these foods VERY much.
Pizza (the greasier, the better)
GiphyWhether it is Chicago style, New York style, or somewhere in between, pizza is one of my guiltiest pleasures. I'M OBSESSED. There are gluten-free and lactose-free alternatives for anyone that can't (or chooses not to) eat them. The toppings can range everywhere from cheese to meat lovers to Hawaiian style. The limits are almost endless, and "dessert" pizzas just add to the variety.
Chicken and Waffles
GiphyThere's just something about fried chicken and syrup-covered waffles that just SCREAMS southern comfort food. This is a meal that even my high school in a small town in Missouri can't mess up.
Macaroni and Cheese
GiphyThis cheesy confection is good off the stove or baked in the oven! You can even add bacon bits for a little crunch and extra comfort food points!
Grilled Cheese
GiphyI'm starting to see a pattern of cheese in these comfort foods, but it just makes sense! I, personally, make a GREAT grilled cheese. My trick? Double cheese!
Chips and Queso (or queso with any mexican food)

Toasted Ravioli
GiphyA very common appetizer in the St. Louis area is toasted ravioli. This toasted pasta is something I require on almost every trip to St. Louis. It's a whole new level of pasta eating.
Tacos
GiphyThis easily-customized food is something that everyone can enjoy! From "hard" tacos to "soft" tacos, it's hard to not enjoy this iconic Mexican dish.
Ice cream
GiphyComfort food doesn't always have to be hot! This freezing dessert is a comfort food that even toddlers will demand. There's a reason that some people buy ice cream after a breakup... COMFORT!
Donuts
GiphyThis beautiful sugar-covered food is something that I can scarf down a whole box of when I need the comfort. From glazed to jelly-filled, these delectable treats are definitely drool-worthy.
Chocolate
GiphyChocolate is a very useful tool to make normal food feel a bit more guilty. The list can go on forever... including: cake, pie, cookies, ice cream, chocolate bars, and brownies.
Burger and Fries
GiphyLast, but definitely not least, is this iconic American duo. A simple, yet amazing pair. Burgers and fries can be super filling and EXTREMELY comforting. A juicy burger and well-seasoned fries can do wonders for my mood.
