On January 20th, President Trump was sworn into office. Starting work on day one, we saw Trump sign his first executive order in the oval office. The executive order was to start the process in repealing the affordable care act, or better known as Obamacare. Beside the signing of the executive orders, people took notice in how Trump redecorated the oval office. The red curtains were gone and replaced with gold instead, as well as the rugs. But the main redecoration people noticed was how the Winston Churchill bust was returned to the oval office. Winston Churchill is one of the greatest leaders in history. He did whatever he believed was right for the United Kingdom, even when others disagreed with him. It's great to see his return to the oval office. But, it got me thinking more about Churchill. Winston Churchill had several great quotes when he was alive so I decided to list my favorites. Before I begin, this list is in no order, not one quote is better than another.

1. "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts."

Nothing in life comes easy. Winston Churchill understood this fact better than anybody. People in history aren't remembered for trying to get stuff done. No, people are remembered for wanting to change things and making those changes happen. But it's not enough to just make something happen, but you have to stand by it and make sure it lasts forever. Otherwise what was the point?

2. "Continuous effort, not strength or intelligence, is the key to unlocking our potential."

You can be smarter than Einstein, but that doesn't matter if you don't put forth any effort. What would be the point then? If you keep trying to be better at something your passionate about and use it, then you will go far. If you want to be a famous singer you have to practice and perform in front of others. If you want to be in politics you have study and learn about the issues today, and put forth effort in changing them.

3. "If you're going through hell, keep going."

Life sucks sometimes. Bad stuff happens to us, and others, all the time. But, you must power through it. In all honesty, it can only get better sometimes when you do. If it seems like it won't though, you'll be stronger than before, for facing the struggle head on instead of running away from it.

4. "Never, Never, Never Quit."

Straight to the point Churchill. If Churchill had decided that, "This is to hard I'm out," he wouldn't have been made prime minister. Or if Gandhi gave up, or Martin Luther King Jr., gave up when things got tough, where would the world be then? You can't quit when things get tough. They didn't so why should you?

5. "You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life."

People are going to disagree with you. I mean it happens to me all the time. But, instead of feeling bad about it, be proud of it. They don't like you because you had the courage to stand up for what you believe in. Don't stand on the sidelines worrying about what other people will think about you. Stand up and fight back, and be proud of it.

6. "I am always ready to learn although I do not always like being taught."

Most people like learning new things, but at the same time don't. For example, say your debating a topic and information comes up, that you didn't know about, from the opposing side. You'd be a little mad that you didn't know it. Then there are some of us who like learning more about things we already agree with. Instead of hearing others opinions on the opposing side. Like preferring to watch FOX news, or CNN.

7. "It's no use in saying, 'We are doing our best.' You have got to succeed in doing what is necessary."

Doing your best isn't enough sometimes. We get mad when those in government only do their best, instead of accomplishing something. Instead of doing your best, try harder. You must push past your limits I order to accomplish something. Doing you best? Come one we all know that when we say that we can do more, and are just choosing to be lazy instead.

8. "Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen."

Standing up and fighting for what you believe in is great. But, so is listening to others. Again, fighting back for what you believe in is great, but again you have to listen to others too if you want to accomplish anything. It's called compromise. Also, sometimes you could be wrong, and need to sit down and learn something new.

9. "Victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival."

Winston Churchill had to survive World War II, and fight back to save his country. If you want to survive, or even have your voice be heard, you must fight back and win. If you lose there was no point. You must fight to accomplish your goals sometimes, or survive, and you have to win.

10. "We shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender."

I mean you must finish with this one. It's World War II Winston Churchill must address the people of the United Kingdom. This is exactly what his soldiers needed to hear, and his people needed to hear. Germany is winning, and getting closer and closer to their island. So, its time to stand up and fight for your country.

I've been a bleach blonde for over a year now, and let me tell you, it is a lifestyle. More hair appointments, longer showers, and special shampoo. But it is totally worth it!

1. Mentally preparing yourself to convince your hair dresser that white is the way to go.

2. Or the anxiety of what could go wrong by bleaching your hair at home.

3. You could either become a ginger

4. Or a pixie

5. The face you make in the mirror when you take off your towel to unveil the perfect white strands.

6. Taking a million selfies the day you bleached it, because you know your roots will be back in literally 2 days.

7. Having to get bangs or a big chop because your hair is so damaged.

8. Having orange highlights in between touch-ups.

9. Going out for a drink afterwards to debut your updated look.

Despite the struggles, you love your platinum blonde hair! You make sure Instagram knows it, too. You don't need a filter, because the color is flawless by itself!

I've been at this college thing for almost three and a half years, and while I thought that high school was truly the lowest point of my existence, I'm beginning to realize that it was a walk in the park. Like, I miss the days when the biggest white lie I told my parents was my made up excuse about being late for fourth period. These days, the white lies are a tad more complex, and as ashamed as I am to admit it, I've definitely told a few of these.
