Everyone deals with stress in their life. I have had many stressful days as well have many other people in my life and most people that I've met. Songs have been composed about the stresses of life and it is something on the forefront of most people's minds. I have learned through my own mistakes how not to deal with stress.

1. Freak out.

Unfortunately, we live in a world that does not allow us to run around like wild people and release all the stress we feel.

2. Take it out on other people.

As easy as it may be to direct the hot ball of stress living in the pit of your stomach at your friends and family, this is really the only way to annihilate people.

3. Shove it way down deep in your soul so no one will ever find it until you randomly spew it at the world somewhere far down the road.

Although this is a very long description, I think everyone knows what I'm talking about. It's really easy to just ignore the stress you feel and hide it deep inside of you.

4. Eat your stress.

Relying on food for emotional support is not only a bad way to handle stress, but it can result in very unhealthy habits.

5. Drinking your stress.

Alcohol should be used in moderation and never to cover, medicate or drown out stress.

6. Stressing about your stress.

Sometimes, there is so much stress you want to stress about the fact that you're stressed! But this just perpetuates the problem and is not a solution.

7. Just quitting.

Life was made to be lived and just because we are stressed out does not give us a free pass to quit. But with that said, a constant state of stress is not healthy. If you find you are stressed all the time with no relief, it may be a positive thing to drop an item or two off your to-do list to alleviate some of your stress.

8. Being over emotional for no reason.

You cannot burst into tears for no reason. Yes, crying is healthy, but you will come off as a crazy person if you let your schedule ruin your temperament and level-headedness.

9. Sleeping your stress away.

Sleeping is healthy, but taking a nap every time you feel stressed will only delay the inevitable. You will have to deal with the stress eventually, so there is no sense in putting it off.

10. Turning to violence.

Whether that's hitting yourself or another person, verbal abuse or emotional abuse none of these are healthy ways to handle stress.

Stress comes to everyone in many forms; work, school, family and bills are all very stressful -- along with a million other things. Next time you get hit with a big ball of stress, be sure to handle it in a healthy way.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
