Veronica Mars is, in my opinion, one of the best shows of all time. It is also criminally underrated and was canceled far before its time. Lucky for us super fans, the show was recently picked up by Hulu for an 8 episode mini-series which aired a whole week early on July 19.
Here are the 10 best episodes from the original run to get you excited for the revival.
1. Season 1, Episode 18: “Weapons of Class Destruction”
This episode contains Logan and Veronica’s first kiss. Need I say more?
2. Season 1, Episode 21: “A Trip To The Dentist”
Veronica FINALLY figures out what happened to her at Shelly Pomroy's party. (Well, almost.) The answer? Definitely not what we were expecting.
If I hated Duncan before, I loathe him now. Still, seeing Veronica put the pieces together and the big emotional blow up at the end were extremely gratifying.
3. Season 1, Episode 22: “Leave It To Beaver”
After waiting a whole season to find out who killed Lily Kane, we finally get our answer, and it's a satisfying one. The stakes in this episode are sky high, and it's so heartwarming to see just how far Keith Mars is willing to go to protect his daughter.
4. Season 2, Episode 1: “Normal Is the Watchword”
This episode wraps up the events of season 1, and kicks off this season’s arc with the bus crash. It’s fun to watch, but my only complaint is the twist that Veronica had dumped Logan and gotten back with Duncan. Duncan is the worst. LoVe forever <3
5. Season 2, Episode 11: “Donut Run”
Bye bye, Duncan! This episode is included solely because it features the departure of the worst character. Plus the plot is pretty interesting I guess. But mostly Duncan.
6. Season 2, Episode 20: “Look Who’s Stalking”
This episode features perhaps one of the show’s most well known quotes:
Logan: “I thought our story was epic, you know, you and me.”
Veronica: “Epic how?”
Logan: “Spanning years and continents. Lives ruined, bloodshed. EPIC.”
The healthiest sentiment? Not so much. One of the most romantic moments of the show? Definitely.
7. Season 2, Episode 22: “Not Pictured”
When it comes to season finales, “Veronica Mars" sure knows how to deliver. The threads of the season come together in an epic conclusion which reveals not only who was behind the bus crash, but also Veronica's rapist. It's a plot twist that I didn't see coming, but it definitely felt earned.
8. Season 3, Episode 1: “Welcome Wagon”
Veronica and the gang have relocated to Hearst College, where there are still plenty of crimes to solve. This episode proves that Veronica Mars doesn’t need the high school setting, and continues the mystery that was started in season 2.
9. Season 3, Episode 9: “Spit & Eggs”
This is probably the most dramatic episode of the entire series. Veronica solves the case of the serial rapist, but almost loses her life in the process.
This episode also introduces Season Three's new format of two small mysteries rather than one overarching case.
10. Season 3, Episode 20: “The B*tch Is Back”
Ah, the infamous final episode that divides fans and non-fans alike. Believing they would be picked up for another season, the writers left a lot of loose threads, most unforgivably not revealing if Logan and Veronica would get back together.
Personally, I like the potential this episode has to offer, and while we never got our answers, it’s fun (and painful) to imagine what could have been.
Lucky for us, that fourth season came after all, albeit 12 years later than it should’ve.
These ten episodes are my personal favorites, but of course the show is brimming with great content. If you haven’t watched the show, I highly recommend! Here’s to Season 4.
