Either you are a master at interviews but could still use a few reminders, or you are completely unaware of what employers are looking for. In order to score the job/internship of your dreams, follow these steps at your interview.

1. Arrive early

Nothing tells someone you want the job more than coming respectfully early to the interview. This usually means around 10-15 minutes. Make sure to allow yourself time to find where you need to go.

2. Dress professional

This may depend on the type of job you are interviewing for. Notice what current employees wear at this place of work and dress one step above that. Go buy yourself a solid interview outfit that will work for all scenarios.

3. Turn off your phone

If you think your phone may be a distraction then leave it in the car. It looks unprofessional if you are on your phone during an interview. Dedicate an hour to the place you would like to work of no technology. This includes when you are waiting in the lobby before it starts.

4. Solid handshake

Make sure when the person interviewing you arrives you shake their hand. Another thing to keep in mind is to maintain eye contact while introducing yourself; it shows a sign of confidence.

5. Come with questions

At almost every interview you go to, they will ask you if you have any questions at the end. Coming with questions shows that you are interested in the job and have taken the time to think of them.

6. Bring your resume

Just in case the person interviewing you does not have your resume printed out, it is a good idea to bring it yourself. It also shows that you have come prepared for any circumstances.

7. Smile

Another signal of confidence is the smile. It is the best way to show that you are happy to be there and engaged throughout the interview.

8. Sell yourself

An interview is supposed to be all about you. Make sure to point out the key experiences and skills you have to offer the company.

9. Be honest

Honesty is key during interviews as well. Do not go into an interview being someone you are not. Make sure the employer likes you and thinks you will fit the company. Tell them your passions and morals and see if it matches the companies.

10. Send a thank-you letter

After the interview, it is smart to send a thank-you to the person you interviewed with. If you are not sure how to send a professional thank-you letter, Google it.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
