Last week, Thirty Seconds to Mars announced that they are going back on tour with MUSE beginning in May. Back in August, the band released a video teases new music coming out this year. There's no date for an album released, but knowing that they will be on tour from May to September shows that there is a good chance of it being released in the first half of 2017. If not, at least we'll probably get some sneak peeks at their songs during the tour.

Since lead singer Jared Leto's take of the classic villain The Joker in the terrible "Suicide Squad" is still fresh in our minds, let's take a look at their best songs released in their first four studio albums.

10. "R-Evolve"

What starts off as a slower song, "R-Evolve" has some powerful lyrics and ends on you wanting to scream out "The evolution is coming/The Revolution has begun" along with Jared.

9. "A Beautiful Lie"

The title track from Thirty Second to Mars' second album is a haunting song about letting go of the past. The message is universal and the piano rift at the beginning, middle, and end has an eerie tune that sticks with you. Also, the music video to "A Beautiful Lie," which focuses on global warming and has great shots of the band playing in the glaciers, is the first instance of Thirty Seconds to Mars as a threesome. Bassist Matt Wachter just left to join "Angels and Airwaves."

8. "Hurricane"

"Hurricane" has a great mix of piano and synthesizer. And the lyrics are catchy and impressionable. Whether I'm listening to the original, the version with Kanye West, or the acoustic version, "Hurricane" is a good song that sticks with me. And the video is one of the first representations of mini movies that Thirty Seconds to Mars shoot. This started a trend of mini, 20-minute videos directed by frontman Jared Leto under the pseudonym, Bartholomew Cubbins.

7. "Savior"

I think this is one of Thirty Seconds to Mars' most underrated gems. It's at the height of their Emo days, singing about death and life and life after death. It's some of favorite Jared Leto screamo from their second album.

6. "City of Angels"

Unfortunately, this is the only song off the album "Love, Lust, Faith, and Dreams" that made the cut. Now, I've never even been to Los Angeles. But, the theme of chasing our dreams is universal and applies to all of us (that's why we all ate up "La La Land"). The lyrics are vivid and the music includes the synthesizer, a pounding of the drums, and Leto yelling "I am home" that makes you want to pack your bags and move there.

5. "This is War"

The title track off their third studio album, "This is War" includes a wonderful guitar melody and infectious lyrics about fighting for the greatness in the world until the day you die that is reminiscent of Dylan Thomas' poem "Do Not Go Gentle Into the Good Night."

4. "From Yesterday"

This is the song that got me into Thirty Seconds to Mars in the first place. One of their biggest hits that landed them into mainstream music, "From Yesterday" is a song that moves between beautiful ballad to headbanging jam. The music video, a tribute to the film "The Last Emperor," is recognized as the first video completely shot in the Republic of China.

3. "Closer to the Edge"

I can still picture the video to this song. Footage of the band's worldwide Into the Wild tour with shots of the stage, the fans, and what went on behind the stage. Sometimes I feel that I can't listen to this song sitting down. It makes me want to get up to the highest place available (if that's the roof, then fine) and scream the lyrics out on the world. It makes me want to live my life, as the lyrics suggest. Also, I have to say that I love Jared Leto's Mohawk that he sported on tour.

2. "The Kill"

I think that many people would include this as the band's top song. It's their first hit and the song that fans yell at Jared to play when he asks for requests at concerts. It's a textbook emo song. But, it's also about confronting your demons and fears. The song is something to blast in the car and yell the lyrics, not sing. The video for this scared me as a kid until I realized it was a homage to Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining."

1. "Kings and Queens"

The big reoccurring theme in their third album "This is War" is togetherness. What I mean by that is the 1000 people they brought into the studio to record background notes. And "Kings and Queens" is the best example of this chorus beaming behind Jared Leto to join in a song about humanity and possibility. Leto wrote half the song in Africa before taking a flight back to America where he finished the lyrics and music. This song literally traveled around the world to be made. And the chorus behind the band is not just a few people in a studio. This is the whole world singing. Together.

Honorable Mentions

"Attack"

"Vox Populi"

"Do or Die"

"The Race"

"Night of the Hunter"

"The Fantasy"

"Conquistador"

I personally cannot wait to hear some new music from Thirty Seconds to Mars. They've been quiet for too long. Hopefully it comes sooner rather than later.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
