1.You can't drink like you're 21 anymore.
I don't know about you, but my high-tolerance took a deep dive shortly after turning 22 so I don't need to drink as much to feel it- which my wallet thanks me for.
2. Crap becomes easier to spot.
One day you'll look around and ask yourself, "Why is there so much drama? It's been four years since I've been in high school." And you'll start to realize the cliche saying for friendships. "Quality over Quantity," was right.
3. You'll also start listening to more music where the lyrics don't over-sexualize women and obsess over vanity or material objects in every line.
You'll start appreciating songs that actually mean something to you.
4. Bubbles are the best invention, ever.
You can't not smile when playing with bubbles, and stress seems to minimize as well. It's great, and you realize you took bubbles for granted when you were younger.
5. Your guilty pleasure becomes quiet time.
The busy adult lives we live take a toll on us, so curling up with a good book or a TV remote can be a saving grace.
6. Relationships change.
I've never been able to date someone I didn't see a future with, but now seeing all my high school friends getting married and having kids makes me take my future more seriously. Which can be a good and bad thing. It's a bad thing because you might not give someone a chance because you're worried you two don't have a future. But also it can be a good thing, because if you seriously can't see yourself growing old with your SO, then why are you dating them?
7. Hooking up and making out becomes less fun when it's not with someone that's special to you.
Sorry random dude spitting lines worse than Johnny Bravo, I'm going to tell you I have a boyfriend then go home alone and be happy about it.
8. You'll have to make some big decisions around this age, but you can't plan out your entire life.
Let things happen to you. Take chances. Travel. Explore. Try new things. All that crap—just do it. You'll find yourself along the way and your life will plan itself out.
9. Your family becomes, if it wasn't already, the most important aspect of your life.
Also, family doesn't have to be blood.
10. And finally, Taylor Swift was right when she said, "We're happy, confused, free, and lonely at the same time. It's miserable and magical."
Even though being 22 gets a bad rep, it's a pretty good age to be alive.
